Cool Hard wiring a portable

I've got a Garmin Nuvi 200 that I got for our Tundra. I love the thing but we have it mounted to the dash but I hate having the power wire running down over the front of the dash to the power outlet. I want to see about running the wire down through the dash at the base of the windshield and then hard wire it into the back of the power outlet with a switch on the dash. Any suggestions on doing this and how hard will it be to run the wire down though the dash. Can I do it with out loosening the entire dash?
