Default Garmin nuvi 750 question

i just picked up a nuvi 750 a few days ago and it takes a while to acquire a satellite signal, like sometimes 10-20 min. is there something wrong with the unit or is that how it is. i feel i should return the unit for another because it really shouldnt take that long to pick up a signal.

If I have this correct, the Nuvi 750 doesn't have the flip-out antenna that some of the other Nuvi s have. And if you have any type of windshield coating, it could be reflecting the signal you are searching for. Also, placement within the vehicle is an issue. Needs direct line-of-sight to the sky to pick-up the signals the fastest.

Good luck with it and like Hog said, call 'em.

My Nuvi 750 has never given me any problems with reception wether it was in my 93 with OEM tint and in my 06 DC with oem tint which neither is too much. The 750 does not have any antenna that is on the head unit externally but you can get a roof mount? only thing this model does not have is Bluetooth and my take on it is hangup and drive DONKEY!!

My 760 takes about 15 seconds to acquire on a cold start. Our Quest takes about a minute, but has older antenna technology.

If it's taking that long I'd say something's wrong, and to give Garmin a call.

I've had the experience using the Quest in a Pontiac Montana (older model) with the steeply raked windshield and it could get a steady signal.
