My 2008 tundra crewmax came with an aftermarket Navigation system installed from the dealership. It came with a pioneer Avic-7010BT. I have tried to find information about this unit but nobody seems to have any information. I want to add a pioneer GEX-P920XM tuner so that I can get satellite radio. Will this tuner work with the unit? Is there anyone familiar with this unit? Any information about this nav system would be helpful. I know that it cannot play DVDS, but who needs to be watching movies while you are driving. Thanks for your help.

How come you dont like the Pioneer GPS? Which unit do you have? I did the firm ware update for mine and it works just fine. Every now and then it acts a little slow but that is because it has to boot up, and I dont get that great of a signal due to very tall trees. I have noticed that if you have the SD card in place and you are playing mp3s while the unit is booting up, it takes a lot longer to boot up and react much slower to commands. I have been to the AVIC-411 Forum but it is very confusing to get any information. I was wondering about unlocking the DVD playback capability on this unit. I have done some research on the forum but to no avail plus its confusing.

The f700 series has no dvd player, only a cd player. However, you can play a dvd through your ipod (with special adapter cable) or from the sd card. The 900 and 90 series has a dvd player.
I have both a 700 Pioneer unit and a Toyota 7006 unit. Toyota is much better...not enough time to explain here.
The 700 works, but it it only has north up in 2d mode, a real drag. Also, only has one route option, not 3 like toyota. Please visit avic411 site...
Hmmm that is odd. I have 2 different built in units from pioneer and have had factory units as well. The pioneer is hands down better than any factory unit I have used. It is even pretty darn accurate up here in Alaska, on rural roads. Factory nav doesnt even include Alaska. Plus I can add more aftermarket input devices and make it much more capable than the factory nav. Interesting.....
