Default E7006 to E7009 Head Swap

I was told the single CD player in the E7006 is better and more reliable than a multiCD player in later units, so I want to keep that part of my factory installed E7006 in my 06 tundra with JBL.

But I want bluetooth. Can I find a E7009 and simply swap the head unit? That way I keep the reliable single cd player, but now get bluetooth. I would simply have to add a mike?

    Is my logic correct?

I had the E7006 and sold it for the E7009 I had heard the same story, What little time I've had it installed there has been no problem with the CD player part, I'm have trouble with the voice guidance not working or the blue tooth microphone not out putting.

I installed the E7009 in my 05 Tundra. No problems with bluetooth, CD player, or anything else. It's plug and play in the Tundra, but you have to remove the whole unit, you cannot just replace the faceplate (if that's what you are wondering.)

    E7006 is Generation4 Navigation unit.
    E7009 is Generation5 Navigation unit.

they are completely different from each other except front face plate.
    internal wise, everything is different.

E7006 have a single CD unit, but it will only read CD(s). Plus display is only 256 colors.

E7009 have 4CD changer, it reads MP3, WMA, bluetooth. Display have very high resolution (night and day difference between E7006 and E7009). Back up camera and microphone is a little tricky to install, but once you get everything properly installed, you will definately love it. I have E7008 (same thing) for over 2 years, and I love it. Its awesome unit, function wise its identical to new tundra or sequoia.

    I am getting mixed signals?

    If I find a 7009, can't I simply swap the 7009 head, and add a mic?

That way no wiring required, except mike wire?

Are you talking about removing the E7006 and replacing it with the E7009, that can be done but the wiring harness for the 7006 is different than 7009 try to find some rear view pictures of the two and you will see the difference. I can post up some pictures tomorrow when i get home or email them to you.

    Hi

I replaced the CD changer/Radio unit on my 2005 Sequoia with the '07 Solara E7009 unit. It was mostly plug and play with the same issues everyone mentioned on the R10 connector pins and my iPod adapter. Now that I am done with those, I am missing one thing to consider the install finished

I am missing the right side steering wheel controls for the phone and I found this info

Steering Switch Pad RH (for BT & Voice buttons)
(unfortunately, they don't sell RH by itself. below p/n includes both LH, RH switch pads, & the cable)
84250-08030-B0 (for w/o Radar Cruise Control) $150 (I got this)
    84250-08040-B0 (for w/ Radar Cruise Control) $160

Letter "B" is for Stone color "E" is for Tan.

Does anyone know if this will actually work "plug-play"? I know am fully aware of the air-bag dangers if I mess with the steering wheel :-)

    Thanks!
