Default Is there an extra AV input on the back of the NAV systems?

I was wondering if there was an extra AV input behind the NAV units. I want to install a camera on the back of the travel trailer and wire it to the truck without having to add another monitor.

No extra video that I know of, but this will do what you want albeit kind of pricey.

NAV TOOL

My buddy has one in his crewmax that he uses to watch video from his ipod (does not control ipod though)

The answer is yes but its not usable as it is part of the rear seat entertainment system and the head unit need to be convinced that the RSES is present I fool mine with my iPhone I have to use a SL2vi from Video,Audio Information Solutions for Toyota and Lexus (iPod integration,XM and Sirius SAT radio integration,MP3 integration,Auxiliary input) but they are not cheap they give full control of the iPod.

I have tinkered with mine but not managed to use the video input without the iPod I think the software in the unit emulation software will only activate when the iPod is connected.

The tech support for the unit is very good but very protective about how it works and video in motion

That's disappointing. I'm hoping to find a way to use the SL2vi and the NAV TOOL together some how to give me control of my ipod and video switching.

Depends on what the NAV TOOL emulates I think it will use the same input as the SL2 you could call them and ask if the NAV unit supports 2 DVD inputs and if they can set the NAV TOOL for the 2nd one Vais wont help I can tell you that.

I would say go with the NAV TOOL and a good mount for the iPod mine is at my fingertips then use a DICE Electronics controller with the video output cradle but use the minimal remote control and keep function on the iPod

I've looked at the instructions for both and both use the same harness. With a little effort I'm sure I could figure a way to tie them both in with a switch or relay. The NAV TOOL is basicly just a video switcher, so I don't see why I couldn't just run the SL2vi into it. Would be an expensive experiment though.

What you really need is an old ipod that you could plug into the SL2vi then separate out the video signal from the ipod and feed in your own video.

However I think the SL2vi is using component video as opposed to composite so depending on what you want to feed in you could be limited but not 100%

I'll post my findings if I ever get around to trying something.
