Post E7009 in 05 Tundra w/factory RSE

I have a 2005 Tundra Limited with the factory NAV (E7006) and the factory RSE DVD (screen overhead / player in console). I want to replace the E7006 with a E7009. Everywhere I have searched (Tundra Solutions, Sienna Club, 4Runner Forum, etc.), I am reading that RSE does not work with the E7009. I did not want the RSE when I got the truck but the N. CAL dealer network said "Take it or leave it. That's the way we ordered them." At least I didn't pay more than dealer invoice. I have used it only twice in 3 1/2 years so if it didn't work it wouldn't be all that bad. But if I ever sold the truck I'd want it to work in some fashion.
Here are my questions. I still have the 05 brochure when I bought the truck. RSE (and RSA) options say you have to have some kind of audio up front. Either JBL 3-in-1 AM/FM/Cassette or NAV or 3-in-1 AM/FM/Cassette/CD or 3-1-1 AM/FM/Cassette with 6 CD changer. But the NAV option does not require RSE or RSA. 1) Has anyone figured out if the RSE could be made to work by itself? After all it is a player unit and a screen. I don't care if the DVD audio is piped into the main sound system. I could live without that. For people in the rear seat who want to watch a DVD or listen to music on the player the wireless headphones or the wired headphones plugged into the factory rear jacks would be just fine. 2) Does anyone know where I could get a wiring diagram and pin assignments for my existing E7006 and RSE? I would like to see how things were wired. And finally, 3) Could the DVD player and head unit be made to work on their own by bridging the video plug for the RSE in the wiring harness and supplying power to the DVD player and screen? I believe the existing E7006 jack in question is R16.

I am not sure about those questions, but if you search in 1st gen sequoia, there is a guy who did buy E7008 and replaced his E7006 (with RSA and RSE installed from factory).
