Thanks,
You need a NAV unit with voltage-differential type steering wheel controls.
All the Eclipse units are a direct plug-in for the wheel controls. You would need an after-market bluetooth adapter. The Eclipse AVN726E has built-in bluetooth.
You can add a steering wheel controller for a non-compatible NAV unit, but that gets more complicated.

Re: Will I lose steering wheel controls when adding NAV?
You will lose some of the steering wheel controls, but the depends on the navigation unit that you buy. I hear eclipse ones plug right in with existing Toyota hardware. The Toyota factory navigation systems are made by eclipse to begin with. I have a Pioneer aftermarket Navigation system and my steering wheel controls work just fine. The only buttons that don't work are the ones for the bluetooth because my Navigation system automatically connects to my phone and all functions for bluetooth are controlled by the navigation system.
Re: Will I lose steering wheel controls when adding NAV?
So is there a write up or something that says that it is a direct hook up? Czech do you have an eclipse model? I just want some assurance before i drop that kind of cash on a head unit. I want to use the steering wheel controls for the bluetooth and install a sub unit. I have the JBL up grade on my truck.
Re: Will I lose steering wheel controls when adding NAV?
I would like to find out the same thing. What I have been told is that you will lose your bluetooth controls on the steering wheel unless you put in an IR emitter in line of sight to the head unit. Then you can program one button to answer incoming calls. Maybe with this new unit it will work?
I just saw this about the AVN726E:

Bluetooth® wireless technology (including microphone) is built-in and offers audio streaming as well. Factory steering wheel control is possible (depending on car brand).
I would think a Toyota would be a good candidate if it's going to work. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!
