I recently installed E7006 in my 06 Sequoia, has 7.1 map, antenna connected to H/U but cannot get this to receive a Sat signal... Any ideas? I ran it in service mode, returned results were OK for AVN. Whats going on?
That was the first question I would ask too! Drove it around for 45 minutes with antenna in different locations each time... Still No GPS signal indicator on screen. Disconnected all wiring harnesses, antenna, power to H/U, and battery cables without any change. Map Dvd working fine, routes, directions, voice, etc. What else can I be missing? Perhaps a third story fall would get it going?
Is it the small square antenna? If so it is a ground plane antenna. It should have come with a 3x3 metal adhesive backed plate. Put that under the antenna and see if it makes a difference. If that doesnt work, put it temporarily on the roof through the window or something. If you get a signal with it on the roof...problem solved....
Thanks for the ideas, however no such luck... I work @ a toyota dealership and they have no answer as well (Go Figure). Think I am going to do some "lot shopping" and try another antenna with my h/u. Here is the antenna...
yep... its a ground plane antenna. Get a piece of sheet metal from home depot minimum size 3x3 if you want to keep it in the dash. I would put the antenna out the window on top of the truck first, just to check if it is working. If so, I would either route it up there or get the piece of metal under the dash. If it is just stuck to the metal crossbeam under the dash then I am positive that is 99% of your problem.

Here is the original problem I had with my first Toyota navigation.
That GPS Antenna you have is an aftermarket unit. Most of them are made in China and assembled with Toyota plug by hand.
***All antennas have center wire, and shield surrounded (and grounded).***
So here is a problem I had... I bough that Antenna from ebay, when it arrived, it did not work either. So I took plug appart, and saw that shield wires are touching center rod (short in another words). So I've fixed that, and GPS Antenna works flawlessly.

Im going to try to take mine apart as well and see what happends... Definately seems like a logical explanation. Thanks for all the feedback and I'll let you know how it turns out!
