GPS and Navigation AssistanceOEM Car, Aftermarket and handheld navigation discussions.
This is a discussion thread titled "Dvd Navigation?", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
So I have herd that there is a dvd navigation system for a tundra but I have not seen or herd any details on this. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks!
There's been a ton of threads covering this. You probably have to be a subscriber to access the forums with the info.
The system is not a "DVD Nav" as in a unit that will play DVD movies... it is strictly a nav system, identical to the one found in the Camry and Solara.
Try the "search" feature.

Toyota builds combinations of option packages for different regions of the country. Depending on where you live, they may not even stock nav-equipped vehicles. If you want a nav system, most likely you will need to order a Tundra with it. Of course, dealers will try to discourage this. Or you can buy a nav system off the net, do a search in this forum for oem nav sellers.
In my case, in So Cal, I wanted a Tundra Access Cab Limited, and it is offered two ways: one has off road package, cloth bench seats. The other has no offroad package and leather captains chairs. Both come with tow package.
As mentioned there is a ton of detail available when you do a search for it. I, as well, would like a GPS navigation solution for the truck.
Right now I'm considering setting up my PDA (Tapwave Zodiac 2) as a GPS device in the truck using a mounting device I bought off of ebay. I was going to make a custom harness for it to bolt into the mounting device I have.

Glad you got what you wanted I considered ordering a vehicle, but I decided to take advantage of the great lease deals Toyota had on available stock. I think this is one area where Toyota skimps, too few option/package combos for my specific tastes. Maybe I'm just spoiled. I ordered my last car ('00 Camaro SS) off the internet from CarsDirect for a steal of a price. Got exactly what I wanted.
I found my Tundra in the color I wanted with the NAV at a local dealer. I got lucky and stumbled upon it. I live in the DC area and two dealers told me they didn't have one with the NAV and one even told me Toyota didn't make the Tundra with the NAV until I pointed it out in the brochure. All of them told me none were available in the whole Mid-Atlantic region. I gave up until one night I remembered the location of one more dealer. I searched their website and found my Limited DC on internet special for $33,800 before tax, tags, title etc...
Don't give up if you really want one and don't beleive the dealer when they tell you there aren't any in their search area. They just want to sell you quickly and off their lot. Most dealers have their inventory on the web. You've got to go to the web and check for yourself.
I've had my NAV unit since December '04 and for the most part it's awesome. I would buy it again.

Curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought him back.
You can also buy them from www.oemvalue.com but they rarely have stock for the Tundra DC. You have to literally check their web site twice a day until you see them update the site, then buy it immediately.
This is how I got mine, and I waited several weeks before they got stock. They posted the update at about 6 PM Pacific time on a Friday night, and were sold out by Saturday morning!
It is a GREAT upgrade, but I don't think that CDs sound as good as the JBL 6-CD changer that I had before (which I have listed right now on ebay, BTW).
I'm a gadget freak, and I LOVE the features of the Nav system. I just can't wait for them to come out with the ipod controller at www.coastaletech.com
