Question Help needed.....Eclipse AVN5500

I've been searching and reading all afternoon and have not found a definitive answer. Is the new Eclipse AVN5500 a plug and play installation in an '06 DC Limited Tundra with the JBL system? Do you have to bypass the JBL amp or not? Do you maintain the steering wheel controls and does the ipod adapter (APC-106) work well?

I'm looking to install Nav, BU camera and ipod and can't decide between the Eclipse 5500 and the '07 OEM unit offered by OEMvalue.com.
If I go with the OEM unit I'm sure it's plug and play but don't know which BU camera to use and don't know how good the ipod integration they recommend (Soundlinq from Vaistech.com) works.

Any and all input will be greatly appreciated

I just Ordered and purchased this unit from ebay New.. Ill tell you how the install goes and do a write up on this UNit. The factory unit Is OK however the system is too slow and doesnt offer the features. The Factory is made by Eclipse but the Eclipse head unit's provide more features..

To get the fact straight for our Ts members Eclipse is made by Fujitsu ten guess who makes that Bingo wile the eclipse system and layout seem similar to the Toyota units updates have to be done from a Toyota/Lexus dealer with the newer DVD Disk for the Toyo head units which . The navigation units on the Lexus es and Camry are similar with the expection the Lexus has a higher up mark lev sound system and the Lexus logo during start up. Many Ts member page who have the Eclipse navigation units for example Like Agent409 In California will pretty much explain the same things I am posting on this thread. I'll Pm Agent so he can explain this better since he has The Eclipse system on his Tundra and it's pretty well common knowledge that Fujitsu ten is prime maker on the Oem unit's since I have that system currently and taken off for a replacement nav unit I just got My factory does state Denso at the upper top but I'm very sure Fujitsu has other names to go by and that doesnt surprise me one bit it's another division. fujistu is totally seperate from Denso by the way just have licensed technology in the end product which were seeing and fujitsu has an electronics division thus they make the optical unit and such while denso provides the rest of the electronics and such.

page review this post and click on this link to do the research for yourself.....

Hey Erik,
Have you installed your 5500 in your truck yet? I need to move my 5495 from my 00AC to my 06DC and am hoping to find some advice from others who have done it. The install in my AC was a breeze but the opening in the 06 is larger and Crutchfield says it does not fit in my 06. Any help would be appreciated.

Crutchfield advice Is BUll what do they know other then selling you a single din radio on the Tundra they told my new pioneer avic z1 wouldnt fit oh really is that why i have it on my Tundra Crutchfield website is very lame too and there information is misleading...ask cf then when did toyota change the Din dual design because they havent it's the same design since 00 and the Dc use the same Dual din dash layout as the Ac cabs so they fit. The only thing i might state to you is a few design Benzal changes on the overall Pod design but even that was minor trim peices and doesnt affect the Dual Din Slot on the radio or dvd navi...

I didnt go with the Eclipse as stated before My ebay deal didnt go as planned so i have the Pioneer Z1 with voice rec navi blue tooth and a 30 g hard drive to store my music...
