GPS and Navigation AssistanceOEM Car, Aftermarket and handheld navigation discussions.
This is a discussion thread titled "06 LTD DC Tundra Navigation Issues", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Has anyone had any issues with their OEM Nav in their Tundra's? I have had my screen pixelate, freeze up and display incorrect addresses when sitting in the actual driveways or parking lots. My dealer seems to know nothing about Navi when I had it checked and simply reset the system and let me go on my way. Im just looking for ideas of how to handle this or if there is a fix that someone knows of that would be great too.
I can't explain the whacky screen behavior, but the incorrect addresses might mean a bad, or non-existent GPS signal. I can't remember if the OEM units display "GPS" like the Eclipse units do to tell you that the GPS signal is being received and triangulated. When there is no GPS signal, the unit guides you via dead reckoning from its last know position. If the unit isn't calibrated correctly, then you will get incorrect addresses.
If you continue to have problems and the dealer can't help, I would recommend as well that the dealer replace it under warranty.
Has the dealer scanned for Toyota specific DTC's on the NAV system?

check what your signal on your gps is? This unit like all electonic item's will have flaw's and sometimes it's just as simple as reboot or a reset.. Also when you have these problems take a picture of the screen to show what is taking place many times it's hard to just mentioning the problems online and it's better off seeing what is taking place you might find another toyota owner with a similar problem..

Dobry Den!
The first time I had the problem of the screen freezing or pixelating I called the dealer and he told me that it was the weather because it had been cold. The problem did happen again and I called them an insisted I get an appointment. I took it in and they did a system reset, called me and had me come pick it up and told me to let them know if it happens again. He also told me they do not know much about the Nav systemes there and they would probably have to get on the phone with Tech support and troubleshoot the issue that way if it happened again. Since then it has frozen again and the dispalyed addresses are still off by at least 12 numbers. I have made an appointment to take it back in tomorrow. It looks as though they will be replacing the whole unit. I will let you know how it goes!

Good idea. I will do that if the probelm persists after they replace it tomorrow. They tried the system reboot but no luck with that. I'll let you all know how it goes after tomorrow.

When you are sitting in your driveway and you hit the "map" button, does it display the correct address? My dealer tells me it is okay that this happens and that that as long as I use put the route in and it takes me where I need to go then all is fine. Something is off and I don't know what it is.
