Default Override for navigation system

I have a 2006 sequoia limited with an in dash navigation system and the rear dvd player. I am looking for a way to disconnect the safety feature on the nav system to be able to make changes without having to have the car completely parked. If anyone knows if this is a possibility please let me know.

Thanks.

Works as follows on my Sienna....

You have to imagine invisible buttons as they are hidden

Tap upper left
tap lower left
tap upper left
tap lower left
push and hold lower right
hold over ride button

now your passeger can input destinations while driving.

post if you were successful.

Angry Re: Override for navigation system

Hello, I am new Member. I purchased a 2006 Tundra. It is Fully Loaded Nav/Rear DVD system. The main reason I joined T/S is so that I can figure out how to have the passenger run the DVD and Navigation system while we are traveling. We got the rear DVD for our three year old daughter but if the safty features can not be overiden so we can run it from the front seat it is usless until she is old enough to run the remote from the back seat. If I have to wait that long I would much rather have the 6 disc changer we had to give up for the Nav system that only works when we are parked. I have tried a couple of things that where posted with no success. PLEASE HELP - Thanks.

Pioneersuby's got it! This will make it so you can imput location while driving but, remember you will have to do it every time you restart the car.

Re: the DVD controls, you will either have to use the remote control (pointed at the back screen which is what I do) or you will have to buy a "lock-pick" (cd) which overrides safety features. So you will be able to watch a DVD on the front screen while driving as well as set loctions (while driving).

If you can't get it to work then, post up and I will see if I can write up better instructions.

Don't know if you found this link yet, but, it does work on 2006 E7006 GPS:

1st touch the 'Menu' button
2nd touch the 'Volume' button
3rd touch the top left corner of the screen, then the bottom left corner, the top left corner again and finally the bottom left corner.
This will get you to the service screen where you can press and hold the 'Override' button until you here a beep.
Hit the back button a couple of times to get to the normal screen and away you go.
You can do all the things that you can do while in park (except while driving).

Has anyone had any experience with these folks
Prius Accessories

They seem to have experience hacking the Nav units so that they can be 'accessed' while driving (i.e. your passenger wants to look up an address, location, etc)

Does anyone know the override for the new E7009 (4 cd changer, bluetooth) model. I have tried the override "dance" a number of different times with no luck getting into the service screen.

Thanks,

David

I beleive that your Map DVD firmware is the latest one which now locks out the service screen. Toyota got slick...

Well isnt' that just fantastic... well at least I can stop trying to push those corners now... haha... And I was looking at the lock picks too, and they don't seem to perform the override either. I am guessing for the same reason. They do though give me video up front but I was kind of hoping more for the destinaion and bluetooth override. Oh well, maybe they are working on it.

thanks, work well on my E7006. Especially after clarification with "Volume" knob versus button on screen.

Did the override functions fix your problem?

I am about to add an e7006 to my 2005 DC with RSE and am concerned about the exact issues you mentioned.

Thumbs up Re: Override for navigation system

I sent you a PM about this but so everyone else knows, if you have the v5.1 firmware/data base DVD and use it with the E7006, you will retain the ability to 'override' the nav unit and and use it while moving. If you upgrade to the new v6.1 firmware/database, you will lose this ability. However, it is possible to use the 5.1 firmware combined with the 6.1 database and get the best of both worlds. The upgrades to the firmware from my research only seems to help Lexus owners. I have not heard of any Toyota owners using the latest maps (database) with the older firmware (v5.1) having problems. I don't have the RSE but I can confirm that with this combo, you can still 'override' and the 6.1 database was a big help to me as I live in a rather new area and my home address finally is available to dial in which I could not do with the 5.1 database.

Making this combo is not easy, requires the ownership of the 5.1 DVD and the 6.1 DVD and then making a new duel layer DVD (takes the right combo of hardware and software to lay down the proper layer change) for it all to work.

All this to say that the E7006 is the right choice for those with the RSE unit.
