This is a discussion thread titled "Turn by turn guidance", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I have an AVN30D which I've just installed that doesn't seem to give turn by turn voice route guidance. Can someone tell me if this is a receiver or disc issue, or even operator error. I have followed all directions in the reference guide.

Are you getting a GPS signal? Is the Speed Pulse wire hooked up?

I am getting a GPS signal, But I am not sure of the speed pulse wire. I will contact the installer first thing Monday morning and get back to you. In the meantime I will tell you that this receiver is installed in 2005 Ford F350 with a 6.0 diesel, would this vehicle have a place to connect this wire???

If they did not hook up the speed pulse wire, then that is your problem.
There is another option if your installer can't or won't fix the problem.
I'm guessing you are running on version 1.2 of the Eclipse NAV software. Version 1.4 (the newest one) updates the firmware to guide you by GPS solely and does not require the speed pulse connection. If this is the case, PM me and I can hook you up with version 1.4 of the software.

After reading all posts reguarding the the disc update I thought that might be the case. I have already sent you a PM for the update, but I will still contact the installer. With the update will the nav do everything it should for the guidance function??

I really appreciate your effort, I had no luck finding such a site. This forum seems to be a good source of information. I agree that czechm8 is a very informed individual, I've learned quite a bit just reading his threads.
