Question Garmin 530c users

I just thought since I am on the verge of a purchase I would post this thread to see if there are any users of this specific GARMIN model and I would love to hear your experience with it. Trying to spend no more than 600 bones and would really not use the mp3 players & video found in most other higher end units.

I have another question, sorry gentlemen.

As for back roads, it depends on what you're talking about. Some small dirt roads are not on the map and if you drive on them, the GPS tells you that you're "off road". Remember, you're dealing with a vehicle GPS that isn't designed for off road or camping use. For that, you'd need a hiking GPS.

I was also wondering if someone wanted to venture off road temporarily ,if the SD expansion memory slot in both units are capable of recieving an upload topo software like from REI etc?

Don't know about that one in particular but I have been using a Garmin C320 for about a year and half now. Got it new at amazon for a little over 300 bucks and it works great. C330 and C340 are good as well. As I said I am not familar with the 530C but would assume it will use similar software and I am very happy with mine. And I can move it car to car. Good luck.

Just purchased Garmin C330 and love it. Accurate, less expensive, no hassle. Has built in maps, no MP3. No additional maps to download as all are onboard unit. Purchased through amazon.

I have used a 530C for 1 1/2 years. A great easy to use unit.
Just now moved up to a Nuvi 760; Best Buy has(d) them on sale for $349.
