Default Problems with Factory Installed GPS

Has any had any issues with the factory installed GPS system that Toyota provides? I'm so disappointed with functionality and directions. I can't be the only one. I have a 2006 Toyota Avalon LTD.

I don't have an 06 Av. but I hear many others don't like the unique layout of it . The saleman even told me it was not as user firendly as the other Toyota O/E Navs on other models.

But. The Avalon is Toyotas Flagship sedan. If that means anything...

Even the 2000-2004Avalon Navs were awkward to use with the remote and all. I opted not to get it when I got my 2001.

There is NO control for the beep tone volume.

I wish there was. It is loud and annoying at times.
Toyota has addressed this in some 2007 Lexus models with Display/Radio/A/C/Nav buttons. The tone-volume can be adjusted.

I also have an 06 LTD. It is the worst GPS available today. You cannot back up in the programing if you make a mistake. If you decide to change your route you cannot do it in motion. It continues to complain if you take a slightly different route and will not automatically compute a different one from your current location. I have a Lowrance 500C that I use in my truck and motor home. It is far superior. I keep hoping that Toyota will provide a program update.
