Does anyone have the Factory Rear Seat Entertainment option integrated with the Nav? Your opinions and thoughts well taken.
Would like to hear your thoughts on any topic in this realm.

Your profile shows you have factory RSE. Is yours integrated into the NAV? Did you install it yourself? I am looking to retrofit factory RSE into my 2007 Highlander w/ NAV....

It will cost yu several thousand dollars and countles parts and harnesses and labor too. I looked into it,. I checked the schematics of the factory RSE and there are many components including a RSE ECU mounted under the Passenger front seat and many harnesses too. Just Not cost effective and the parts dept said it would be better to get it from a salvage yard, at least for most of the componenets.

FYI, the Factory unit display screen is 1/2 inch smaller screen(diagonally) and does not have MP3 playback for what it's worth .

My Two real complaints of the Port installed RSE is that:

1) the DVD player unit is located in the center console and takes up the whole storage compartment. (the factory RSE has the dvd loader up with the overhead screen)

2)It does not play/integrate with the Navigation screen as described in the HL owners manual. The Dealer/ Toyota Sales documentation never disclosed
this to me and I Blasted Toyota USA, Torrence about this.

The factory RSE and Port installed RSE are sold for the same price yet have different option codes. It is not the dealers fault, but TOYOTAS bait and switch to make more money. Clearly the Factory unit is worth more$$ than the AudiovoxToyota Rebranded Port installed unit.

This Factory RSE eluded me for so many months and no HL's were coming from Japan with the factory RSE.I checked with all the Japan shipments all over the USA. It was prominently available from 2004-05. And this postponed my decision to buy for so long. The dealer finally gave me my HL for invoice. I just accepted the Port RSE version.

Wow. You've obviously researched much of the information I've been looking for. I agree with what you're saying regarding Toyota's bait and switch. Not a good way to do business. Needles to say I'm disappointed as well. To make matters worse, I've tried ordering the Port installed kit and Toyota now lists them as NO LONGER AVAILABLE! WTF????

They make great cars, but Toyota's customer support leaves a lot to de desired......
