Thumbs up 2007 Solara Navigation System

Hi guys, I need some advice. I have JBL 6cd/cassete unit on my 06' Tundra DC. On the unit itself has a56830 number on it.

I would love to buy 2007 Solara Navigation System from oemvalue. They say thatI need 2005 - 2007 Tundra with JBL sound system preinstalled.

That part is fine. But, "Navigation System does NOT work with Rear Entertainment System".

Now the stupid question. What is rear entertainment system and how can I tell if I have it? I have the the truck just for few days and I am not sure how to find out if this navigation unit will work with my car.

Can you help me out here? I want to make sure that I'll have right NV and easy installation. Thanks. Charles

are there headphone jacks above the rear cupholders (center console)? Do you have anything on the headliner other than the domelight?

If you have any questions let me know, I just installed the system in my JBL tundra without Rear Entertainment system, I'd be happy to help

I am not aware of any headphone jacks above the rear cupholders and I have only domelight on the headliner. So I guess I do not have Rear Entertainment system.
dibble9012, did you install 2007 Solara Navigation System or something else. How easy the installation was?

Yea if you don't have those you don't have the rear entertainment system.

Yes I did install the e7009 2007 Solara navigation, install was really easy. The truck is prewired for navigation. I'm guessing you have steering wheel controls? The nav is plug and play, the only thing I had to add was the microphone and backup camera (haven't done the camera yet though)

I have pictures of my install and the steering wheel controls install, also have part numbers for anything you would need for the nav install.

What color is the interior of your truck? Mine is taupe interior and the steering wheel controls match the interior nicely. You can also get grey controls I believe.

My email is fakemail4@mac.com if you want to email me.

First of all, you will absolutely love this navigation!! The bluetooth is so slick. The person on the other end of the phone can't tell I'm on hands free it's so clear. Plus the routing and maps are super fast at loading!

Do you have any experience or knowledge installing this Nav in a 2006 DC with the rear audio system (no rear dvd)? I am curious if it is possible to keep the rear headphone jacks and optimally, the remote to work.

Thanks,
-Chad

Hi Chad, I have have no experience but it is clearly stated that this unit will not work with Rear Entertainment System. Each seller has it as info with this unit. I guess there is reason for that.

Alright I'm totally interested in this. I just bought a '06 Limited w/the JBL. I put in the VSE sub this weekend along w/a USA spec Ipod PA11 and a Sirius S50. I'm totally digging this set up. I do have a few questions though.

First will the PA11 work on this Nav unit? My S50 is plugged into it also. I'd hate to buy the one that the OEM people recommend, it's $300

Also you mentioned something about the steering wheel controls, does it come w/extra buttons or something? My truck already got 'em, at least the volume up/down and track up/down. Am I gonna need additional ones? I'd love to see your pics and any info you have on your install, I'd really like to put the mic and camera in also. I take it you need the mic for the bluetooth to work right?

Please LMK, you can email me any pics or info at leizodirge @ earthlink. net or post here of course. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure about the PA11, I am just waiting for coasteletech to come out with their ipod controller.

My Tundra came with the steering wheel controls like yours, but you can also get phone controls for the right side of the wheel.

You don't "have" to get the steering wheel controls, but I would highly recommend it.

Hey thanks for replying. Where do you get the additional steering wheel controls, dealer? What's the cost? Oh yeah, I'd love to see your pix, but the link isn't working. What camera did you buy the Eclipse BEC105?

I got the controls off of ebay, but the dealer is probably the only other place to get them. They are about $150 I believe. I am trying to get a manufacturer to make tundra specific camera's. Post your interest here, we need at least 35 people.

Here is another thread about the nav unit, my pictures are on the last couple pages.

Thanks for the info. I just posted on your other thread about the camera. Although I might take a stab at the modded one, looks fairly simple and I like the look.

Default Almost ready...

Ok I got the Navi in the mail yesterday and I'm almost ready to take on this project. I've got everything in hand, just the BT buttons are still backordered. I do have a few questions and I've been searching like crazy for the answers so I'd figure I'd ask you guys just to make sure.

I bought the mic kit from Carson Toyota #86750-44020. What do I do w/the button that's wired to it? Did you guys clip it off or something?

I picked up the R10 connector also. Where did you guys get the pins for this? I read that the mic pins fit in just fine but I do need a couple for the camera, can I pick these up at say Radio Shack? How do I extract 'em do I need a special tool or something? Any tips will help. I read somewhere that someone used the pins from a 9 position connector for a computer monitor from Radio Shack, would these fit in the R10?

Where did you guys install the GPS antenna?

And finally I noticed there was a connector w/a wire taped onto the bubble wrap of the Navi, what's this for?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer these ??s.

You can install the nav before the buttons, there are not wires that you have to install from the unit to the steering wheel.

Just cut the button off, thats what I did

I got the pins from mouser.com (link in the other e7009 thread)

I installed the antenna behind the air ducts, you will see when you get the radio out what I am talking about, it fits rather snugly back there

Can you take a picture of the wire? My nav didn't come with any extra wires.

Take a look at the other e7008/9 thread there is a lot of useful information there!!!
