This is a discussion thread titled "Toyota Data v6.1?", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I see on ebay that a couple of Toyota Nav data DVD's forsale with v6.1 and they claim it just came out last month. I called two of my local dealers and they acted clueless about it. Does anyone have the part number for a 4th Generation (E7006) Nav unit v6.1 data DVD? I suspect that Toyota is going to ask and arm and leg for one of these, $300++ for just the DVD seems way out of line when you can get a very good nav device with better maps for the same cost. But my current data DVD doesn't show my home nor anything within a half mile of it. Hoping this version does.
You sir are correct. Called every Toyota dealer in the Valley of the Sun and could not find anyone that could find out if or when this update would be available. So, went to one of the local Lexus dealer and they had the update for their Gen 4 Units. After much discussion about it, I decided to buy it even thought they told me it was non-returnable.
It worked like a champ. Tried the override feature and no go. But I now can navigate directly to my home which wasn't possible with 5.1. Not that I couldn't find my way home, was never and issue for me. But my wife is directionally challenged and this will be very helpful for her. I also will be doing some traveling thru Colorado and Montana within the next month or two and it will be nice to have up to date maps!
Next was to make a copy of it. Here in the Valley of the Sun, it gets really hot during the summers. Last year, I lost my DVD nav disk when it warped! After making a couple of coasters, I finally found the combination that works and made a 100% error free copy. Used it for several hours yesterday and today. Now I can safely keep the original tucked away in a cool dry place.

I want a backup of my DVD but didn't think it would work. What software did you use? I've had several CDs warp here in SoCal and would hate to have to shell out $$$ for a replacement.
I done a lot of research into this and it would take more than just the software to make it work. You need the right media, burner and software from everything I have read. I know I made a couple of coasters trying. But I have used this copy for the last 3 days and never had a problem. Punched in several address (even out of state) and it finds them and sets up the routes. PM me if you want more info

this explains why i cannot do the override
total bs... you would think when you bought a $50k truck they would trust you enough to be responsible... having the buttons greyed out does not protect them in any way and is childish... what is next... cant change the radio when moving...oh wait ...what about the mirrors getting greyed out so my wife cant apply her lipstick when she drives...
I came accross some information that _may_ help with the lose of the override. It would require the making of a 'custom' DVD. I have not tried it yet but will do so in the next day or so and let you know if it works.

I haven't tried making a backup of my ver 6.1 Data disc, but do know it's just over 8 Gigabytes (double layer dvd). Won't my copy of NERO (which supports double layer dvd's) be able to make a backup of the Toyota Data disc if I use a blank double layer dvd?
Hello Everyone, I'm new to the forum and would like to thank everyone for the great information being posted.
could anyone indicate on the process of creating a Data disk to override the 2007 - E7009 -dd ver 6.1. nav unit purchase from OEMVALUE. Has anyone been able to have their rear entertaiment system work.

I am re-organizing my pictures, please PM me if you find dead pictures and I'll fix it. Also, I don't have many pics in my account here, best place to view my truck is on photobucket: Here is my photobucket account: LINK
I've been doing a lot of reading on this. One way to do it (and it's already been done) is to copy your v6.1 DVD to your hard disk, replace the 'loading.kwi' file with the older 'loading.kwi' version (5.1), burn a new DVD using a double layer DVD and that should do it.
