GPS and Navigation AssistanceOEM Car, Aftermarket and handheld navigation discussions.
This is a discussion thread titled "07 Sequoia - Add Bluetooth, XM & Camera?", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I haven't purchased the truck yet, so I want to choose carefully and end up with all the fun toys.
Question 1: With the stock Nav & RSE, can the bluetooth, XM (or Sirius) & backup camera be added? There are threads about the BEC 105 camera, and how it just plugs in. I suppose this also applies to 07 Seq. Can anyone confirm?
The other option is to not buy stock Nav, and add on an aftermarket Nav.
Question 2: If I buy aftermarket NAV, do I still have the restriction that the Toyota unit has? (Stop to input address, I Agree screen, No DVD picture in front while moving)
Thanks in advance - Jim.

well dont make my mistake and get the rse and nav from toyota... it seems to restric you in alot of ways... if i had to do it again i would go aftermarket but i really didnt get a choice cause to get a lx package near me you had to get the nv and rse cause its bundled that way...
the o7 6.1 disk for the navi does not have an override feature that has been found ... and i dont believe the e7006 has bluetooth built in but i could be wrong... from what i have read the camera works plug and play and so does sat radio but without a sat button (am button)
save your 3k and go with a nicer aftermarket setup in my opinion

I agree the Toyota system is lame go out and buy yourselve a Pioneer avic z1 under 2k with hdd hard drive/xm traff navi with guides voice to stay away from dead heavy traffic and voice Rec Controls I have that unit and it beets The Toyota head units On features alone take my advice Most on Ts either are displeased with the factory Toyota Navi or don't seem to like the system
Look at my system click on picture to play video Video of avic z1 tundra nav - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Toyota system don't have this technology.

On the face of the unit in the Sequoia, it ought to say what unit it is (I suspect e7007 or e7008) if so, it has Bluethooth, and a 4 disc changer.
You can add a microphone, Sirius, and a rear view camera.
The e7006 does not have bluetooth.
I agree with not getting the RSE...a waste of $, and I'd rather go aftermaket.

All new aftermarket systems will have the restrictions limiting use of some programming and/or movie features while the system is in motion, but there are aftermarket bypass options that are well published, most of which frustrate the system's safety/disable feature by fooling the unit into thinking it is in bench/test mode, or something similar. (My first Pioneer nav system was installed about seven years ago. It was EASY to disable the "safety interruption" then...we just had to ground one wire. The second Pioneer nav system went in about four years ago, and it was much harder to fool. If memory serves, the AVIC Z1 actually has a gyro installed to detect motion. I have had it installed for a few months, but I have not bypassed the disabling safety feature - and the system is frustrating as can be, as I can't make programming/destination changes without putting the vehicle in park and setting the emergency brake. I plan to make the necessary adjustments in a week or two...)
I have the Pioneer AVIC Z1 in our Sequoia. It's great, especially for a techno-nerd like me, but it isn't idiot-proof, and it does have some short-comings. I think it's better than the Toyota/Lexus system in some respects, but the Toyota system is simple and functional. If I can get the people at "OEMValue" to answer my emails, we'll probably install the factory system in my wife's new Tundra.

Oem value sucks I'm not going into Detail since Ts seem's to has them as a Preferred dealer and There are still Ongoing complaints from Ts members that needs to be reviewed from Ts staff since there a bad apple that needs to be booted.
Back to topic on your pioneer Z1 the system can and will unlock what you need to do is when the start up screen come Up( starting up Navi) (before Pioneer icon) you flash your headlight's once and it will override the program to play dvd's and let you type in your Information it work's on my system...
