GPS and Navigation AssistanceOEM Car, Aftermarket and handheld navigation discussions.
This is a discussion thread titled "Factory Nav from "OEMValue"???", within the GPS and Navigation Assistance forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
There is a sticky thread from "OEMValue" under the Tundra forum header. It says in part, "As you may already know from previous posts from our customers in this forum, OEMValue.com offers brand new 2006 factory touch screen Toyota Navigation systems at a discounted price of $1,350 with free 1-2 day USPS shipping. We are also offering the brand new 2007 models with Bluetooth and 4 Disc in dash MP3 changer for $2,000. Tell us you seen our ad here and we will discount the unit to $1,795."
But when we bought our truck the folks at our dearler told us this system was NOT plug and play and could not be retrofitted economically. Has anybody done this? Is it really plug-n-play? Is there an iPod interface? What about the GPS antennae..where and how does it mount? Has anybody been able to get questions answered by "OEMValue"? Is it owned/affiliated with this forum?
OEMValue provides a link to a Toyota FAQ page, and one of the most frequently asked questions is, "Can the navigation system be added at the dealership?" The Toyota response is "No, it is a factory-only option."
And yet, "OEMValue" is selling the Toyota Nav system saying it's an easy plug-n-play installation.
Can anybody reconcile these apparent inconsistencies?

TMS USA prefers dealers never install Factory O/E Navs after production.
Don't know what the Real reason is though. This is a trend with other Toyota factory stuff like Fog lights that are pre wired in alot of models. Yet, many a dealer wont retro a complete install for some reason... at any price!!
But OEM value does have success from what I hear . But, They never responded to my inquiries either. So I just won't do business with them. I don't do business with with people like that.

I't my rule.

Thanks.
I agree. It's mighty hard to do business with people who refuse to talk to you...
I agree with everything you say about dealing with a business
that won't respond to your inquiries, but you are missing out
on an awesome Nav unit. If you want to install the unit in
an '06 Tundra, it is pratically plug and play.
I installed one in my '00 Tundra where I had to replace the
instrument bezel with an '04 piece ($$$) to get the correct
size opening for the Nav head unit. I had to buy a JBL
amp and harness (no JBLs in '00) (more $$$$), and I had
to fabricate mounting brackets to mount the much larger
amp. It was a lot of work but the system works great,
looks great and sounds great - worth every penny.
All you would have to do is pull your instrument bezel,
unbolt and unplug your old radio, trim a little off of your
radio mounting brackets (belt sander), plug your exsisting
wires into the E7009, mount it and button everything up.
Your done! Total time, less than an hour.

I understand, Dogger, and I'm glad it worked out well for you, but I can't get them to respond to ANY of my questions. Three emails over two weeks and NO answer. For all I know, they're no longer in business.

I hear ya, Eric, but Microsoft is all business too, and their employees ALWAYS respond to inquiries. Maybe that's why they're so succeddful.

What's not to like about Oem Value where can we start
1. Poor customer relations skill's needed on question's and aneswer.
2. Will Not reply to email's ,call's from the 10 member's On Ts and the Post that followed that was locked and Deleted
3. Ongoing complain's that needed to be reviewed that is enought infomation there to warrent a claim In my opinion.

I agree with all the above. When I said "whats not to like", I was
talking about the E7009 and how easy it would be to retrofit in
an '06 Tundra.
When I bought my Nav unit from OEM I knew about their rep (Troy
didn't respond to my emails either) That's why I asked you if this
installation was even possible. After you and I coresponded, I
decided to go for it. I figured once I bought it I would be on my
own as far as support goes, (even though I got all the support I
asked for after the sale - pleasant surprise) so my expectations
were low to start with.
In summary, I can't speak for OEM Values and what's going on over
there, but, as I said before, the E7009 is a fine unit and an easy
retrofit in an '06 Tundra. Now all you have to do is find a place
to buy one without paying the $3000+ retail price.
Dogger, did you buy from them in spite of their refusal to answer any questions or do what they promised? Would you do it again - even with the lousy customer service?
The only thing they didn't do in my situation was answer
my "before the sale question" so I went to another member
from this forum and got my answer.
Since I was determined to upgrade my system and OEM
had the item I wanted, I pressed on with the purchase.
Like I stated in a previous post, after the purchase, any
questions I asked were answered and any support I
needed was provided.
So to answer your question, based on MY experience
and MY experience only, I would by from OEM Values
again. But, because of all the problems and complaints
I have read about here, I can't in good conscience
recommend them to others. But I can and do enthusiastically
recommend the E7009 for any Toyota owner looking
for a very capable Nav unit.
What came with the system? Antennae? Trim ring? Was there anything you needed that was NOT included?
I guess all the negative posts and threads about OEMValue have been deleted, for unknown reasons, so I don't know the details off any of the lousy experiences others have been referring to. That's made it difficult to gamble on a purchase at "OEMValue" too...
