Altitude in Phx, AZ is about 1100 - 1400 feet.

The stretch of road that I am running them on has a slight incline but is one of the flatest most untraveled roads I can find close to me.

The reason the G-Tech TQ/HP graphs look funny is because you have to do the torque test in 2nd gear. You actually start from a stand still to get the G-Tech started then you shift to 2nd lower than normal, the trick is trying to keep the tranny from shifting back to first so its kind of a trial and error test to get it done. One of my tests shows a shift point in there and then back quickly.

The #s still jive because the torque even on the shift is still lower than that of the S & S headers installed test.

This is why the graph looks a little off. There is a shift in there.

The speed runs on the other hand are dead stop to WOT through all the gears you can hit before you need to shut it down.

All the tests are being done at the same place in the same direction. The speed tests are going up hill and the torque/hp tests are going down hill. I have kept them all the same, even with Rgerdes' tests.

All is being watched and everything is being paid attention to in this.

I have posted a new graph of the 460 mile tests that were done today.

Here is the link to the test results.

If any of you have forgotten how to order, on page 2 or 3 of this thread, there are specific ordering details and what you need to do.

I will be speaking with S & S this week to find out the status of the wires and will post here.

Thanks.

So it looks like roughly 12 hp and 45 ft lbs of torque increase at a much lower RPM. Since lower RPM testing is prety tough at best, subjectively speaking, where do you feel the headers start flowing? Rgerdes numbers aren't as important to me as yours since you are normally aspirated and the majority of the readers are also. Plus, with a blower, pipe diameter is going to be the primary factor in performance increases. Your 480 mile impression please?

Thanks,
bomber

In first gear they really want to take off like a bat out of hell. from the time you hit the gas til it shifts to second.

Second gear around 2200 rpm you can feel the start of the pull and it goes all they way to 5000, now I don't mean a tickle of a pull I mean it's Giten on it.

Third gear is similar to 2nd but you don't feel as much because you are already doing about 75mph.

In all reality I can now feel a pull in all gears. The amount of the pull is more or less depending on which gear and how fast I am traveling.

One thing I did notice is that the shifts are more solid. There doesn't seem to be as much slip in the shift. When its in, its in.

Down shifting will wake you up without a doubt. The down shifts when you hit the gas are not as hard as they were stock but there is more ready power available when you shift.

This of course is all with a 4x4 and big wheels and tires too. By going up to 35s there would not be as much power but there will still be enough that you will have a tough time deciding on whether or not you will change gears. With my 33"s I have more than enough power to keep up with Stock Tundras on stock wheels and tires.

I will say this, I was not able to spin my tires at all after I changed to 17x9" wheels and 285/70R/17 tires. Not even when making a right hand turn, it would just grab and go.

With the headers I can now break both tires around a corner and actually fishtail the truck.

I am sold on these. I will put my recommendation on these headers. They have completely impressed me and are doing what we wanted.

I know they are not as low as 1800 rpm but even the graph shows that the entire spectrums has a hp and tq increase over stock and I haven't even changed the muffler yet, THAT WILL BE HAPPENING VERY SOON

At this price you are getting a very good deal.

I found out S & S normal custom price for a set of headers only is $100 a cylinder. This does not include cats or a Y-pipe, and NO it does not include coating. By doing the math you are getting at least a $1200 set of headers.

It's a deal any way you look at it.

I cant wait to see what someone with stock tires with a 4x2 without a S/C does when they put these on. It should be silly.

ORDERING REPEATED FOR EASY FINDING.

This is VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!

When placing your order for the headers, you will order direct from S & S' website. You will go to the site ORDER PAGE and "add to shopping basket". You will then be taken to your shopping basket page. From there click on "To check out Click Here".

You then get to "Checkout". Here you will click on "If this is you first time ordering from our on-line store click here..."

Here is the important stuff.

You fill out your information for billing and shipping and how you are going to pay. They do take checks if needed but they will not send the kit until the check is received and cleared.

At the bottom of the page there is a Comments section, here you will write:

T/S Group buy price $799.00 + Shipping.

Then write your user name here on T/S, ie: Imdone.

S & S will let me know of the usernames so I can verify that these are club/Platinum club member orders.

Remember no registered members can order at this price.

If you have questions please post here.

Thank you.

Imdone,

In your post about the installation process a couple of pages back you recommended getting 3 bolt copper flange gaskets, and a donut gasket. Were the gaskets not supplied with the kit, or did you feel that the ones supplied were not of high quality?

Your latest "seat of the pants" performance report was great - that's more what I'm interested in anyway, the real change in driveability.

Thanks for doing all the work on this and sharing the data with everybody!

I know that the answer is somewhere in this post, but I am confused as to what is going on. I have read back through it but just don't see my answer. What exactly are we buying here? I am sure by the price you list of 750 that it is not the headers that this thread was started for as I saw some recently sell on ebay for 150....so needless to say I am missing something. Whats the deal guys???

These are headers made by S&S Headers... not the S&SAutochrome headers by Stone Mountain that you see on the net all the time. This company is in Arizona I think. These are "long Tube" headers and I think come with 2 cats and a y-pipe. You may be confusing this with the threads on the S&SAutochrome headers.

If I am wrong, excuse me, but if I found a set of these on the net for $150.00 I would snap them up.

All very good info here,

Bomber, Check the S&S link later, they may do system updates at night. If it still does not work tomorrow send me a PM and I will contact S & S directly and find out what's up.

Ken, thanks for the links, the headers that are in the photo shows black, the set that you will received will be silver and ceramic coated by Jet Hot.

pchieffo, I recommend the copper gaskets for the Cat to header and cat to y-pipe connections because they are the best for a brand new installation. They will provide a much better seal than the gaskets that are sent with the kit. You are already spending this much, don't skimp on the gaskets.

The donut gasket I had did not fit. I am speaking with S & S on this right now. I know that a couple orders have been put into S & S and am supplying this information to those that will be installing before the gasket change.

kelltl, SO40 was correct these are S & S headers. NOT SS Autochrome headers.

You get Ceramic Long tube headers, 2 catalytic converters that are 3" high flow cats, a new Y-pipe, wire extensions for the O2 sensors, and the bolts and gaskets, which I have posted to opt for different gaskets. Oh yeah the headers and Y-pipe are coated by Jet Hot.

Default Yes I did!

Followed the directions to the tee and it still wouldn't save the order. It takes you to a nonexistant page with SQL errors. I'll try again this morning and see what happens but that is where the link was inop last night.

bomber

OK, got through this morning but the price total is still $919.00 and not $819.00. As stated earlier, IMDONE will verify with Loren TS members and then the group buy kicks in? Thanks for all the hard work guys - it looks like it is beginning to payoff. One question though, a bunch of headers were all made at the same time. Were they made with the hanger in the wrong place like the ones you have installed or?

Thanks again,
bomber
