did you run an emissions test? compare before/after?
i am worried that the new catalytic converters won't pass smog testing. visual inspection is not too big of a deal. my inspector will look the other way as long as i pass the emissions test.
what type of converter is it? 2way, 3way, etc?

NO. They are not Carb certified. I do not know what you speak of when you say 2 way or 3 way.
The o2 sensors are not reading that there are any deficiencies.

Warning! be careful routing the shift cable to the transmission as I didnt' examine my well enough and melted the shift cable. My mistake.........
But I love the headers and the big torque!! Couldn't get to the track will try next week. Can't hardly wait.

Older converters were 2-way design, meaning they were designed for conversion of HC's (hydrocarbons) and CO (carbon monoxide). Present cats are 3-way:HC,CO,and NOX (oxides of nitrogen, not nitrous oxide). I'm really doubtful these are 2-way since aftermarket universals (and even replacements) are 3-way,and a 3-way can replace a 2-way.

That's what I forgot to mention that I did.
I took the "C" clip off the shift caple and slid it down and clamped it tighter to keep it off the headers.
I knew there were a couple things I wouldn't remember.
Thank you for posting this Rgerdes.

I have not noticed any illeffects from the new cats. I have not had them emission tested yet, and there is no information to show that they will pass CA testing.
With the above information I would assume that they are a 3-way cat.

If you guys hadn't noticed yet the orders are being taken by S&S. Order the sets any time now.
There is a change of plan. If you want these headers send me an email so I can tell S&S. They will not be giving out the T/S price for these headers unless I have sent an email confirming your order is OK!

I just spoke with Betty and S&S didn't get the headers back from coating this week. Something about equipment being down to be updated at Jet Hot. Anyway, Betty will be at a show next week so if you want status, you'll need to get hold of Brian. They do expect the Tundra Torquers back next week with shipping next week also.

The group buy thread will be closing. I know it is a sad day to see all these posts get locked up.
Once I find out if we will still be able to access the information in this thread it will close or move.
This is the end of the group buy......
HOWEVER!!!!!
You want S&S headers, I know you want S&S headers, so just send me a PM and I will get you S&S headers for the wonderfully low price of $799 + shipping. HOW ABOUT THAT!!!!
In short the price is still good just send me a PM and I will personally let S&S know that you want them and if you are a club member you will get them.

Did you guys re-use the manifold flange nuts? If so, have you noticed any loosening? How often have you re-torqued?
I'm debating on buying new OEM nuts (~$25) for the re-install, or even going with a locking bolt kit (Stage 8 part 8919, $52).
Also, what torque level should I use on the flange bolts into the aluminum block?
How about the collector to Y-Pipe bolts ... any loosening?
Any trouble getting the O2 sensors out of the stock system? I recall others having trouble here on JBA and TRD installs.
That's all for now ... there may be more to come.
Brian
Brian - I haven't talked to Rgerdes in a while so I can't speak for him, however for me.....
I reused the head studs and the nuts. They reused really well actually. You will end up with more than just the ones from the head studs so if you booger one you will have a replacement, when you take the old system apart. I have not had any loosening of the head studs at all. I have also not had loosening of the cat to y-pipe loosening. This I would accredit to the use of those copper gaskets. They are the bomb.
The heads I would also accredit using new oem gaskets.
I did not use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts, but I tightened them down. If anyone has a Haynes manual or if you call Toyota the correct torque for the head bolts. I will say it will need to be a small torque wrench to get to a couple of the bolts around the engine mount.
O2 sensors, a can of Rust Eater will be your best friend when it comes to this. The 2bolt flange is easy but the threaded sensor will need to be soaked.
