Ive decided to opt out and go with the S&S Autochrome headers. I know they arent exactly what Im looking for, but Id like to get them installed before cold winter days set in. I hope you guys have great success with these headers!

Default S&S Headers group buy

hmm, I thinks I replied to the wrong thread....

Anyways, I'm in. I live in AZ, and was wondering if I could pick
mine up. Anyone have a suggestion on an muffler to go with these,
something to add to the mod, make it look sweet, and maybe a nice
low sound?

Thanks.

magnaflow. so far ive heard borla, flowmaster, trd and magnaflow mufflers, and the magnaflows still sound best imho. you can get stainless as well, the stainless magnaflow looks great under the tundra, and lasts through the ungodly ohio winters...toytundra2000 has one.

I am still planing on doing dyno testing.

I have been gone for the last 10 days or so. I am back and do not have anything planned for the next few months other than a couple fishing trips that will be short.

I was offered a G-Force meter by Bradbury, however, he has not been able to find it.

Does anyone have a G-force meter that would be willing to loan it out for some quick testing results?

I am willing to pay the shipping back if the sender pays the shipping to me.

Please let me know via PM.

I will post once I speak with Loren again, possibly tomorrow. I too will have Loren answer whether or not the headers will bolt up with a dual exhaust system.

RSVEES is this a x dual system, or what?

Thanks.

Yes that is what I'm looking to do. The x muffler system boltsright behind the cats, wel where the factory y-pipe bolts up. I think what I'll do is just get the headers without the cats and y-pipe, unless the pipe they are using will have flanges where the fatory y-pipe would bolt on. Wasn't your truck the one they fitted the headers on? If it bolts to the factory exhaust it will work on a 1 in 2 out dual setup.

The y-pipe is shorter than the stock set up because of the length increase of the primaries.

My truck was the prototyping truck. the fixture was made on my truck. I currently have the stock exhaust system until they are completed.

The entire S & S headers package is designed to bolt to the stock muffler. It very well may work with a single to dual exhaust.

are they getting back with general answers, like when the headers will be done for the rest of us?

OK, I have a question. I got a bit crazy when I put the 40 series flowmaster on my truck and hacked off the stock y-pipe. I did this behind the 2 cats. I removed the resonator (3rd cat depending on the state) and widened the y-pipe. I then took this widened y-pipe into the 40 series at 2.5". Will these headers still work on my truck?

I am intersted in buying them and will defintiely become a memeber.

Second question. I did an airbox mod as well (deck plate, cutting the hole in the airbox). I've heard that this will actually lower the performance if you put headers on your truck. Does anyone know if this is true. Thanks for any info.

The quick of it is:

S & S has designed a long tube tuned header set with new cats and ypipe. they are ceramic coated inside and out. they are 1 5/8" primaries with 2.5" collector and ypipe. The cats are also 2.5" inlet/outlet. The system will bolt up to the stock muffler. It is also setup for an easy transition to an aftermarke cat-back system as well. The system is completely bolt on. No cutting or welding.

first question:
as long as the new muffler connects to the new y-pipe and tube where the old muffler did, they will work. otherwise, just reattach a new gasket up front of the muffler, it'll be fine.

second question:
can of worms for another thread . do a search for air box mods.

DITTO!.

Re: the second question. greater airflow "should" assist the scavenging of the headers. You will note that it "should".

I called Loren today for you. I was not able to speak with him but spoke w/Betty. I asked if this would work. There is one problem with asking S & S if a Basani Dual will fit and that is that S & S is not Basani.

I left a voicemail asking Loren for any advice for things you can look for and will post here. I also am finding out if there is any information that he may have about and system that would work and not cause installation issues.

I have a question for you. I don't have duals and have not done any reasearch on the dual exhaust setups. Have you?

If the dual exhaust system bolts to the stock cats in the stock possition your exhaust will not work without modifications from a muffler shop.

If it is designed for attachment after the 3rd cat or resonator there may be some cutting involved. If it is to attach after the muffler or if it replaces the muffler and attaches in the same position you should not have a problem.

If this is a true dual ie: 4-2-1 system then you will most likely need mods.

If it is an x then the attachment point is still in question along with a 1-2 set up from the stock system.

Let me know what your plan is so I can better address your question with Loren.

Thanks.

Hey guys, I'm not the update guy, but I called today. I know I will have to make a custom hook up to use the Bassani XMuffler. SO anyone who has real duals will have to do the same. Here's the biggest issue I have, the time to make these wire extentions. They tell me the headers are about ready, but the wires won't be for a few days yet, then comes some welding, then 10 days for Jet-hot (maybe a bit longer). Imdone, how many weeks after completion do we have to order at the group rate? I want to buy em, but I'm getting antsy to do something to this truck, so I might buy the catback system first, which means at least 8 more weeks to come up with another $900. Can you get a definate answer>

No definete answers yet. I did talk to Loren for you today he said for him to make any pipes he would rather have the truck at his shop. OR you risk running into the same thing that the Pontiac guys did. That was about a 3 month mess.

There is no time frame as of yet. There will not be one posted until the headers are released. At that time I will post a time frame for purchases to be made.

I also spoke w/Loren today about the headers. They have already begun the welding process. They will be drilling the holes for the O2 sensors last but they intend to get as far along as they can for now.

You are correct that it will take approximately 10 days at Jet Hot. This was expected though from the begining as this is the final step of the process.

They are working as quickly as possible to get the O2 sensors done. The problem is that there is not a great supply of these sensors and Rgerdes is getting together with toyota dealers that he works with to get as many as possible.

S & S greatly wants to get these out asap and are working as quickly as possible.

Updates will come with more frequency now so stay tuned.
