Yep, an additional ~$40 bucks off from 15% for a total savings of $165 (from $825).

From Kev's original post (I just happened to have it in another window):

Quote:
Prices will be as followed. A normally aspirated pre-programmed PnP kit will RETAIL for $825 and the SC PnP kit for $945. At least 20 orders are required to qualify for a GB the minimum number, the GB discount is 10%
If the GB is for 30, the discount is 15%, and if the GB is for 40, the discount is 20%.
Seee-ya,

Jim.

Good Lord Keiphers don't do that! Unichip is PnP because if a dealer finds out and wants to be A$$holes they can deny warrantee work. That would be the equivalent of selling crack from inside the rehab center

Nashua Performance center (at nashua toyota) said they were going to start carying them as soon as the PNP came out. Jeff (the manager there) had spoken to Jack @ UniChip about it at length.

I wish my Toyota dealership were that competent. They barely know what TRD is...

But, should someone ask Jeff if he wants to go ahead and order some (possibly sending us over 40 or even 50)?

Default Clearing smoke...

Hey Yall!

I wanted to chime in and try to help shed some info I learned this evening.
I had a long conversation with Jack this afternoon and there seems to be a loss of focus on what the gains are. Now, before I say any more, there are TWO camps of Unichip offerings that I am aware of. The N/A and S/C. What I am referring to is the N/A portion. Earlier, Kevin reported there was a lower %gain for people that had FIPK, Headers and Exhaust mods on a N/A 4.7L V8 vs. a BONE STOCK 4.7L V8. I called and spoke to Jack specifically about this. I now understand completely what the situation is. I will try to put all this down... so here goes.

When Jack dyno'd a BONE STOCK 4.7L V8 2UV-FE engine, he found that Toyota basically made the lower RPM range rich and the upper RPM range lean. Now, the mid point between upper and lower is 2600 RPM, if they redline @ 5200, so that is my basis for upper / lower and "mid" being the 2400-2800 range. When Toyota did this, they knew the "average" for the 4.7L for the "average" driver is in the 2200-2800 range. Now, You take that same 4.7L V8 and put a FIPK or cold air intake on it, and you just made MORE power in the lower to mid range due to the fact that you are putting MORE air in and reaching a BETTER A/F ratio. The closer you get to 14.7:1 SLIGHTLY on the riche side.. the MORE power you make ... more efficently! Ok.. so lets look at the UPPER range. Now you have MORE air coming in, and your already lean in the upper area.. with MORE air your even MORE lean. Not good. Take that concept, and add headers to the mix as well.. you see where I am going with this. your making more power in the lower range, and not much of starving the 4.7L in the upper range. So, your overall power curve will be skewed to the lower range, with the STOCK ECU in control. Ok... in comes the Unichip.
With the Unichip properly tuned, Jack can correct any A/F ratios in the lower, mid and upper range. Now, you add the correct TIMING, and you will make MORE power thru the ENTIRE RPM range. The center portion will be the least %gain and the lower and upper will be the highest %gain. So, insted of a sharp bell curve... he has "flattened" the curve, but at the same time, RAISED the overall curve above what it was WITH the FIPK and Headers and exhaust alone. Now, with the FIPK, headers and exhaust added to the mix, the %gain will not be as much as with a BONE STOCK unit.. but that makes sence. The Unichip has just corrected the flaws and is delvering SMOOTH, A/F corrected power thru the WHOLE RPM band. And because it is making more power, more efficiently, it SHOULD get better gas mileage. The post by Todd basically puts this to the test. Jack said that he does not care what we decide, he justs wants to provide us with the BEST solution to making the most power. The Unichip will compensate and correct multiple issues all at the same time. In summation, Weather your bone stock or have all mods listed above, the Unichip WILL provide gains above the mods alone. I hope this has shed some light on the %gains and what they mean. I admit, I was slightly confused at first. As far as the S/C folks... that is a WHOLE 'nuther discussion. I will elaborate on that soon. I need to speak to Jack, and make sure that I have all my ducks in a row, as I am in that camp and want to be dead on.

I am all for going ahead as planned. I hope you are as well!

Well... that all depends on the movement of your right foot. I did not speak to Jack on that topic. Just my speaking, if your looking for more power more efficiently, then you might see the best gains on the highway at cruise.
I do not know what they would be, but I am sure there is some gains to be made!

The most important thing is that you stay out of boost and in vaccum most of the time. Thats all I have to say about that.

Default Ship dates have changed!!

The 2003-2004 harnesses are being manufactured in S Africa where all the other unichip Pnp are made. I've just been informed that there is a 1 to 1 1/2 week delay in getting these out. The 2000-2002 harnesses however are having final assy done by Jack in Portland should make our 4/16/04 date...so it looks at this point.

Question Do we hold the group buy open 1 more week, and go for 40...(TRDKEAU just joined so were at 35!!)...or do we close tomarrow and turn in deposits and get the 2000-2002 owners rockin? There is no guarantee that 5 more will join...but at least 2 fencers have told me they'll get in if there are #40 ...

Bottom line we stay open 1 more week and all SHOULD ship 4/23...or turn in order tomarrow and get the 2000-2002 theirs 1 week early.

Kevin
