Well folks, it's time for another group buy! To start off the process, a poll must be posted to gauge interest in an actual group buy. Per TS group buy policy, we must have 10 or more interested parties post their vote in the poll. This poll will run for 10 days, so gather everyone you know and let's get this thing going! I do not have dyno results as of yet (this will come within the next week or so), but judging by the hp and torque curves on the baseline run, this motor is being choked and therefore, some good gains are expected. Here is a tentative layout for this group buy:
10-30 units: $165
31+ units: $155
Good prices eh...ah but wait, there's more! These prices INCLUDE shipping to the lower 48 states! On top of this, if you're a TS club member, you'll get an additional $10 off! I encourage everyone who hasn't joined to do so...there's a wealth of knowledge throughout this site for paying members, good discounts through various car rental companies etc. and in other terms of value, the $10 you'll save on the group buy is an instant 47% return on your membership dues! Anyhow, feel free to email me with your questions. Thanks again; now let's get to voting!
I gave it my yes vote, CARB be damned for that kind of money as long as fitment goes well on the test truck. Oh and I am assuming that we don't have to use the Y pipe to still get bolt on installation.
I just got good and tired of debating the CARB issue mostly, my SC wants to breath.
Thanks Erik
I can't believe this day has finally come. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. I hope we get enough for the group buy because at that price plus shipping included is a steal.
I'm sure they could...I'd have to check with them on pricing due to shipping, but let me know your full address and I'll see what I can do for you. LOOK GUYS...we're already up to 8!!! Looks like this group buy will fly no problem. Keep the interest coming!

I am also on Guam and would like to know the difference in shipping cost. Its about time a company came through with a promise . Let us know the details.
How long do you think it will take after we get the first 10 people to get our orders? I am in no rush just curious.
We have to follow group buy policy...keeping that in mind, we have ~ 7 days left in the poll, then the group buy will run for ~ one week. by the time group buy closes and headers are shipped, my best bet is that you'll have your headers in hand in ~ 3 weeks from now. I'll try to keep the ball rolling without a minimal amount of speedbimps. Thanks! Up to 9!!!!!!!

Sorry to bombard you with questions but any word on the when they are doing dyno testing?

dsconstructs - Where are you getting them installed? You seem to have done your homework on CARB issues, where as I don't know anything about CARB. Will shops even install non-CARB certified parts in California?
Can anyone throw out some ballpark install prices? What if I installed them and then didn't pass smog due to the headers and then had to reinstall old stock one? At that point it might have been cheaper to just buy a pair of CARB legal ones. Who makes CARB legal ones besides TRD?
I want the dyno results before I vote.

Don't worry, that's what I'm here for. I'm actually the one getting the dyno results, so to answer your question...as soon as my schedule will allow. The truck, is not mine, nor is the dyno facility, so it's a combination of getting all these ducks in a row. I'll try my best to get them done before next week ends. Thanks for the patience nonetheless. By the way...we hit 10!! no matter what now, the group buy is now legal t take place.

I will likely install them myself, waiting to hear about any fitment problems. As long as they are indeed a bolt on, no modification installation, at least that is what it will take for me so that I can uninstall them if the smog shop catches them on visual or when it's time to sell it. I will play the ignorance card if I get caught on visual and then reinstall stock for the test. I've had vehicles that were missing something for visual test before and was just told to go fix it and come back to get tested without it counting as a failed test. It's when they hook it up and test for emissions that really counts. I'll just cross my fingers that they don't even sweat me on it.
It would be a tough call to pay someone for installation. It seems I read on the V8s paying around $250-300 at local muffler shops. And then if you had to pay them again to reinstall stock manifolds would pretty much bite. As long as they are indeed bolt on with no modification needed, probably take you half a day to install. The only other headers I know of would be TRD, even the JBA for Tacomas have not really been verified as to whether or not they will work on the Tundra to my knowledge. For me the TRDs recquire welding which means I would be paying someone for install which would mean a minumum of $1000 for headers, probably more like $1100-1200.
Yep, I'll just wait to hear how installation went on the test truck and if all is well I'm game. Besides, I get the feeling we'll need everyone we can to reach 10 sets for the actual order when the time comes, even with the 10 yes votes on the poll.
Hey you are in Davis, I'd be willing to bet we could get 2 sets installed in a day if we got together

I'm with you and will do the install myself. When I have had smog tests done in the past, the engine inspection has been cursory at best. I really doubt that the headers will even be noticed. I can't imagine that the emissions would be adversely affected as long as the required sensors are in place. My SC should be here this week and I don't want it wheezing.

I'm hoping the tech will give it the once over quickly myself. Usually they've been more concerned with missing items than anything. Definitely can't see how they would cause actual emission problems so just "test my tailpipe and send me on my way, thank you"
All of you guys worried about passing the CARB visual test...just contact Jet-Hot and see if they can coat them in a rusty brown color. Those CARB guy's will never know the difference! Just kidding, anyhow, I'm installing the headers today, so dyno numbers are soon to follow. Keep the questions coming.
