Got mine today, looks awesome. I don't have any spare door modling so I will have to deal with it until I find a proper subsititute.
Thanks bob259
When I installed mine on Monday I also was a little concerned about the gap too, especially here in the NE with all the ice and snow we get. For the time being I just used a bead of clear sealer across the top and you can't even see it. As soon as It warms up I'll try the door molding.
Cidro: if you can provide more info on what material/type/manufacture you used and some close up photos that would be great. It was a great idea thanks.

i bought this molding from pimp boys (i mean pep boys) about a year ago and had it layin around in the garage...the product is called style guard-door edge molding. it's self adhering and very flexable. it came in two 46" lengths. the product looks like tubing sliced on one side so you can insert the door edge into the slice or groove. within the groove there is already a thin coating of glue. in order to make the molding more flexable i put it along with the unpackaged third light cover in front of the fireplace (heat source) only for a couple of minutes. soon after the door molding was very bendable and wrapped around the third light cover like butter goin on bread. pep boys or any automotive parts store sells the stuff...it's a very common product. the width of the product is less than a half inch. i started to put the molding dead center on the top of the third light cover and worked it around the rim. once back on top i cut off the excess molding. what a perfect fit it is! stay somewhere warm (near the fireplace) when applying the molding to the cover so the warmth will start to melt the glue ever so slowly to get maximum adhering. hey it's easy if i did it! and it looks cool! when you put the cover on the two screws seem to grip better. do not over tighten the srews until you get the third light cover into a slight slanted position then tighten it down. one last thing is the original screws have a small rubber washer on them. put these on the new longer screws that you will be using. check out my photo gallery...i took some pics of the cover with the molding on. i also made three small cuts in the bottom of the molding, under the trd letters to allow water to drain out. whew! hope this helps.
