Sounds good, but Im finding it difficult to pick up or even verify not knowing who/where exactly the dealer is. I would definately be picking it up, as shipping it would yield no warranty.

I did read the whole thread. I am trying to decide between the AVX 2494 and the AVN 5494 models.

There are no models AVX2494 and AVN 5494. They are AVN2494 and AVN 5495. The 2494 was replaced by 5435 model. The difference between these two is that the 5435 has the volume on the left side of the unit instead of the right. Also it has pre-amp outputs increased from 2V to 5V. With this unit wheneva you want to do nav you have to put the disc in meaning you cant watch DVD at that time. ONce the nav loads up, you can put the DVD back in. The AVN545 has a 30GB harddrive which 10GB is used for nav and the rest for music. This allows you to drive and be able to listen to music, watch a DVD, and do nav all at the same time. The rest of the stuff is pretty much the same. I am putting the 5435 in my car cuz I do want a harddrive taking up space in my car and I dont really need it for an extra $400.

For the guy wanting to know who the dealer is, they will let you know right after Friday. It's not like your giving your money to anyone else. They tell you the name of the dealer and number and you handle the rest. You just have to tell them you are from this group-buy and he checks you off on his list.

The model number is AVX2494, here is the web address.
http://www.eclipse-web.com/avx/avx2494.htm

This model comes with the hard drive without navigation. It looks like to me that the AVN 5494 replaces this model, but I want to know what other features were added to the 5494 besides the navigation. I think that you may be getting confused with the AVN 2454, which is last year's navigation model.

This group buy is not for that model though. Its for the AVN5435 and the AVN 5495. From the reading I have done is that the AVX models are the same as the AVN5495 except the 5495 has nav as well.

I know the group buy is for the 5435 and the 5495, but I had originally looked into getting the AVX 2494, but now that the new models are out I wanted to know the difference.

I emailed Eclipse and this is the response I got from them regarding the difference between the AVX2494 and the ANV 5494. Just in case anyone else wanted to know.

Hello,

The newer AVN5495 will have both Navigation and the music juke on the same
hard drive.
The AVX2494 only has music juke.
The AVN5495 will have 5V output, ESN (Eclipse Security Network),
HD Radio ready, Sirius Ready, circle surround II.
The AVX2494 does not have preamp outs nor the functions mentioned above.

This is what turned me off about this GD. The dealer is not ONCE mentioned. I want to verify that after spending $1700 I will still have my warranty!! I don't want to shell out my money, then hear from Eclipse that I have no warranty because I didn't buy from an authorized vendor. Once the dealer name is posted, I will definately be in.

From what I understand you get a warranty with this group buy. The guy tells us where to order from and they have a list of our names and we tell them which item we are buying. Its not like we are giving our money to anybody. I am going to go to the dealer and if the warranty is not included I am just not going to buy it. Its not costing anything right now to get in. Only to suscribe.

But the problem is he wont specify the dealer, so noone at this point can go to them. I dont even want to spend the subscribing money if the dealer turns out to not be legit. If I owned a Toyota, sure but I dont, therefore making the subscription useless to me and others if the deal doesnt work out.

As for the warranty..IF the dealer is legit whoever picks them up would have a warranty, but any shipped wouldnt be covered...
