I thoroughly appreciate Hobbes hard work; matter of fact, I payed the extra to get the red sway bar. However, it doesn't make good sense for the group buy to cost more than the normal price. At least it's been duly noted.

To be accurate, the group buy for the bar itself was $10 less than anywhere else I could find. That's a good price. The extra cost was incurred in shipping. $40 from Hellwig direct, free from another place. No fault of Hellwig's as they seemed to be charging a fair price for shipping. I'm sure those big mail order houses can build in enough profit to cover free shipping on orders over a certain price.

My guess is Hellwig got a similar amount of profit whether I ordered through the GB or the big online dealer. I still appreciate Hobbes efforts and consider this GB a grand success based on the number of orders. It also raised awareness of how well the Hellwig bar works and that will most certainly lead to increased sales for Hellwig well after the GB is complete. So, Hobbes, give yourself a pat on the back and take the rest of the day off

that's b.s.

there is no way that it costs summit / jcwhitney, or any of the other "big" online shops any less than hellwig to ship that bar. And those shops had to pay profits to hellwig and pay freight to get the bar to them, in the first place.

Enough. This thread is for posts associated with participation in this particular group buy. Other issues can be taken elsewhere - PERIOD.

Any off topic post will be removed.

Default Sway bars..

Just bought my first Tundra. Can someone please explain the benefits of the sway bar and wether or not installation is easy enough for someone with an average mechanical ability. Thanks for any response you can give me.

Default status on quick disconnect swaybar

hi, I am wondering if you have the status on Hellwig finding a tudnra for testing, and if they are going to produce disconnect version or not.
thanks for the hard work. If possible, I will wait for the ones with quick disconnect.

thanks
Chenster

Looks like I missed some fireworks in my absence. I was only logging in to respond to PM's. Hmmmm....

Chenster - the last I heard one of our members was having a hard time getting in contact with Nancy. He was going to be near their plant and seemed willing to stop by but I don't think he was able to make arrangements. I will PM him and see if anything happened, and if not I will try to get an update from Nancy. I know that there are several waiting for word on the quick disconnects. Worst case, order your bar on 9/9 and then you can pick up the disconnects later. Then again if you can find it cheaper elsewhere you can wait for as long as it takes. I'm a little disappointed things are taking so long but if it means Hellwig being thorough and avoiding the frustrations of our members having to return hardware that doesn't fit then it's probably worth it in the long run. We'll pave the way and it will be easier for future members to order the bar down the road. Not much of a silver lining depending on your perspective but it's the best I can offer. Thanks for your interest though.

As an update, 51 TS members have requested the code so far. While that doesn't necessarily mean they'll all order the bar, it at least shows the interest for the product. Good stuff .

Mike

Default Installed my this weekend

I received and installed my sway bar this weekend. Wasn't too difficult but the instructions from Hellwig are lacking a bit. Thankfully I had access to the comments and pictures from the Member Modifications link, helped big time! I'm not a mechanic, just an average Joe and it took me about 2 hours but would have been quicker had I not tried to put the sway bar on upside down the first time, woops. Otherwise the install went pretty straightforward. Again the intructions seem to leave out important steps that may seem logical to mechanics but for me, had to scratch my head a few times before the light bulb came on.

Anyhow, the ride and cornering are so different, I love how responsive and tight it feels now.

Again, I highly recommend reading and using the pics from the Install guide posted by Tremo. Here's the link.
