I was hoping to have the slider installed before I back to work Thursday night... But Oh well..... JB
Hey, don't give up yet, maybe it will still happen. Maybe call CR LAurence (since they are close) and see if they can help you out, or just drop by with the damaged window and your PayPal receipt and packing slip and see if they can help. Just a thought. Beats sittin at home biting your nails.

Dang makes me wonder what the windows going to look like after it makes its way all the way to Ak. You figure spending as much money as the companies do to ship these things the mail handlers could be a little more gentle with the things. Oh well, I guess you take a chance everytime you order something online.

Probably wouldn't be much worse. I think they load them on to containers then air them to Alaska, so they probably don't get handled a whole lot more. It's the actual "hands on" stuff that makes me nervous.

Ken,

My window arrived today, the box was beat to crap and partially open but the window is ok! Hope to get in this weekend. Cannot say thanks enough.

Question to Bill regarding your instructions for using the OEM switch. In your text and photo you say to only use the 4 perimeter pins and that the center ones are not used. Does your switch illuminate and dim with the other dash lights? Is it possible that these 2 positions are for connecting to the dash lights? I have seen this on similar things I have installed in the past. Have not received my OEM switch yet so I cannot check it out. Thanks

For anyone that is wondering about shipping damage on these sliders. Rob will take care of you... He'll re-order another slider for me. All I have to do is contact UPS for a pick up of the damaged slider and tracking # for it and then alert him to the tracking #...... JB

Default CR Laurence Power Rear Slider

657WALDO: The OEM switch is a NON-ILLUMINATED switch. There are no bulbs in the switch (unlike an OEM Foglight Switch), nor are there provisions to put one in. When I started researching this mod, the same question popped into my head and I "opened" a switch up; no bulb provision.....

I was going to get a power slider, but I didnt want to spend the money because I'm going to sell the truck soon and get an 05'. I happened to smash my back window about a month ago, does anyone want to sell their OEM window for a decent price? I am in Northeast PA, the closer the better for shipping prices. Thanks

I'll sell mine for $380 shipped.

Just kidding. I was planning on putting my window on ebay after I get the new slider installed. Problem is, the installer told me that there is a good chance that my existing slider will get busted taking it out (he says they are a b@%ch to get out.
Anyway, I can let you know after tomorrow when I get the new one installed.

Ken

Default Where is everybody?

Man, where did everyone go? We had an influx of interest in the slider at the beginning of the GB, but it seems like people have just disappeared. Orders are slow in comming. What happened to all the interest? You guys haven't changed your minds have you? Did the wives find out what you were up to?
Hey, gas prices have dropped. Let's spend that extra pocket change! Buy the slider, and while you are at it, buy a set of SilBlades! Heck, buy another set for the wife's car! (Or significant other, or whatever the PC term is these days). Hey, buy one for the kids while you are at it. Let's do our part to boost the economy! Come on guys, your country needs you! It's your civic duty!
Just buy a slider.

Ken

Wow! That was fast shipping! Havent opened it yet but the box looks in fine condition. Now the hard part will be to find an installer. After Hurricane Wilma lots of the glass installers are booked. Ive even heard of as long a wait as Jan! Well I'm not complaining, at least I didnt get a tree dropped on my truck like lots of others!. Close! but it missed! see my photo gallery for how close!

I received my slider on Tuesday. Having it installed tomorrow. No box damage. Extremely fast shipping! I had trouble finding an installer also. I called my insurance company and in turn called the 2 installers they recommended. One said "won't do it unless we sell you the glass", the other said "won't do it unless we install wiring and switch", claimed it was some crap about not warranting the install unless they completed it. Kept calling the yellow pages with no luck. Finally called my Toyota dealer service advisor (Darvin at Right Toyota) and asked who they use for glass repair. He recommended Ever Ready Glass in Phoenix. Called and set up the Thursday appointment. $75 to remove old glass, $75 to install new slider. Now just counting the hours!
