For all you guys on the fence, this is probably the best bang for your buck. The JBA's are about the same price, but the UniChip gives better performance than the JBA's. From my understanding, it's a pretty easy install... much easier than the JBA's as well.
Me, I've got JBA's waitin to go on, a True Flow on the way and this UniChip as soon as we get the GB goin. From everything I've read on here, this is the best combo for yielding TQ and HP. If you're thinkin about buyin the UniChip, put your other stuff on hold and take advantage of the discounts here. You can always buy headers or an intake later for the same price, but this will save you some $$$ .... which means more toys for the same price. I think there's a free retune included in the GB, you just have to pay for shipping....

Brian,
You live right there in Hillsboro, can you drive over and have them run your 2006 on the dyno with the Unichip installed and post the dyno results? Would be very interested to see it on a stock truck and then with the JBA's installed.
Won't commit until someone posts some VVTi dynos with the Unichip. Whole different engine with the VVTi. Same goes for JBA headers. Heard nothing but great comments on them for the non-VVTi motors, but definitely mixed reviews (and no dyno graphs) for the newer motors. Prolly wait for the next group buy after all these guys post dyno results.

See the unichip website for more dyno graphs for different years and mods.
Just wondering why the UNiChip dyno's show practically the same numbers when tested stock, with true flow & catback, headers & catback, etc. Its basically the same chart???

Looks like interest has slowed down, how close are we to completeing this buy numbers wise?
We have 18 confirmed. By confirmed I mean people who have PMed me and said they are in, I'm not going just on the poll alone. Unfortunately 5 of those 18 have said they only want in if we hit the 40 mark. There were a few confirmed folks that have decided to back out as well so that dropped the number a bit.
If you are interested but only at 40+ for example PM me so I can at least track your name if we get close I can let everybody know.
I see we have more people that have posted in the YES category on the Poll. Please PM me and let me know if you are in. I'm keeping the official list of interested people.

I Am interested depending upon if:
of course the PRICE is right, then if I have it programmed now and later add dual exhaust or (dream, dream) a supercharger or any other mod, what is involved in reprogramming the chip and how much will it cost to do it?
Do you know if any one has had one in for a while and what their opinion is on drive ability or if they have experienced any problems?
I asked John at Performance Products what a reporgram in the future would cost. I'll post as soon as I get an email back. With this group buy we do get one free retune though. That isn't normally included in the price of the unichip.
As far as problems I don't recall hearing about any. There were a few initally getting the bugs worked out but I cannot recall anybody having problems since they were initially developed. You can search in more detail if you like. There are some long threads discussing this.

Just heard back from John; Performance Products charges a fee of $35 to reprogram a chip any time after you purchase it. This does not include shipping. Pretty sweet IMO. I didn't realize it would be that cheap.

Many heartfelt thanks for the dyno plots for the 2006. Based on those, I'm going to have to pass on the Unichip. No hp or torque gains below 3500 rpm which is where I want it for towing. When I saw the 2004 charts, I was very excited as there was significant low end torque improvement. Not so on the VVTi. Oh well. Seems to be a similar case with the JBA headers on the 2006, but no definite charts, yet. Looks ike Toyota did a good job with these motors.

X2 - I am out. Not a good buy for the VVTi motors. Have to save up for the SC Kit.

After seeing the dyno performance it doesn't look like the chip gives any bang for the buck for a VVTi motor, at this point I'm going to bow out, the only thing that would be benificial is the removal of any speed limiters (what a lot of chips provide and this one doesn't) if this were to change I would re-consider but I'm not interested with the performace it is showing alone.

I think I will say no also. The marginal gains at 3500 to 4000 rpm's are almost useless to me with the VVTi engine.
I appreciate the effort to get this thing going though.

I agree with you, I am going to have to say no as well. I would get it in a heart beat if it removed the speed limiter. Hell, I would get it if it did just that alone. It just seems like it don't do much at all with the VVTi motors and to get that small increase with no speed limiter removal is a lot of money. Not to mention you have to use PREMIUM GAS with this chip and with today's gas prices it's just not worth it for what you get. Just my opinion, Johnnny
