This is a discussion thread titled "Positives and negatives of (front end) Polyurethane bushings", within the Handling Improvements forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I did the mod to my front bushing brackets (worked out great, have had no squeeks). I also did the mod to the Helwig Anti Swat Bar bushings brackets in the rear (looks the same as the front, and again, have had no squeeks).
Just my 2 cents.
I've had the Hellwig on since January of 2002 and it hasn't made so much as a chirp yet, so I haven't messed with the rear... I'm not sure what it is about the Daystar bushings -- unless they're just harder than those included with the Hellwig kit -- but those bad boys start singing after only a month or two. I think the ride is much better with the front Daystar bushings on, so I'm glad I'll be able to keep them greased and squeak-free without pulling the wheels and removing the bushings to grease them every couple of months.

Just reporting back...6 months with the Daystar poly bushings on the front and still no squeaks. The greaseable bushing mod works great!!
I am SO glad I took those Daystars off. The grease fitting mod is a great idea, but didn't work at all for me. I greased the heck out of those Daystar bushings (via the Zirk fitting) and still was so loud heads would turn when I went over speed bumps. I did notice a difference in performance, but the noise was not worth it.
The helwig bushings in the rear have been very quiet.

I hear ya...I had mine on, then off, then on again, then off again... I had seen the greaseable bushing mod months before, but didn't want to destroy the brackets. I finally decided that I could get new brackets if it didn't work out, so I went for it. I think the key to the mod is not so much adding the zerk which gives you the ability to grease the bushings, but providing the numerous grooves in the bushing for the grease. This prevents large sections of the (hard) polyurethane from contacting the bar, which causes the squeaking. In my case, I did the mod 6 months ago, have had no squeaks yet, and still haven't even re-greased it yet. Bummer it didn't work for you...

I ended up going with a greasable D-Bushing for the sway bar and end link bushings from Energy Suspension. I have pics in my gallery here. The D-Bushings come in a kit and I purchased it at Pep Boys of all places. Bolted right up in place of the stock bushings, and I have not heard a peep out of either set of bushings since and the performance is great.

I put urethane bushings on my 911. Clean all contact surfaces and use that gorilla snot that you can get with the bushings and you shouldn't have a problem with noise.
