buy the new HELLWIG? why????
in case you ever decide to lift or drop your truck, hellwig is the ONLY 1 out there that will have the adjustment so you can keep it on.
simple as that.
i have a 2005 with front & rear hellwig anti sway bar's.
my truck handle's just like a BMW/AUDI.
it is so good, no great/awesome. i highly recommend it.
i do not off road, but i do drive like i stole it, and it is amazing. the handling i have, i know that my hellwig & my v-rated tires already saved my life. and i am a life long customer of HELLWIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What makes our sway bar cost more is the adjustable end links which allow the end user to accommodate mild lifts or lowering (+/- 2"). Also the bar is made from heat treated 4140 chrome moly steel. The TRD bar is advertised as 1026 steel. If you look up the specs on 4140 Q&T vs 1026 you will see that the 4140 has over a 50% higher tensile strength. That makes the bar more durable in demanding applications. Also, the Hellwig bar has adjustable roll stiffnes which allows the user to tune the rate of the sway bar to their application. Yes, the threads are unplated on the end links because if they were powdercoated they could not be assembled due the the powdercoat gumming up the threads. Due to environmental constraints we have not been able to find a cost effective way to get these plated. In the meantime a coat of black spray paint will keep the threads from rusting after adjustment. The end links are made from grade 5 threaded studs and are plenty robust. I am looking into a phosphate coating that should resolve this issue in the near future. If anyone wants to discuss our sway bars further, you are welcome to call me at 559-734-7451.

This is the second truck I've had using the hellwig rear anti-sway bar and once you do it you'll wonder why it took you so long to do it. The new rear bar for the first gen trucks is way improved over the older version I had on my silverado. The coating on the bar and the end links are so much nicer than before. Mounting is easy as well if you're mechanically inclined. I think that mounting the bar to the axle first and then hooking the bar to the frame mounted end links is the easiest way to do it. If you've got a floor jack or something to prop it up to help you hold the bar up while you put the hardware on the u bolts it'll make things easier mounting it to the axle.
