Default Loosening Coil-overs? Compress springs first?

Hi,

I have a 2" lift kit from Fox. I want to lower the front as all I use this truck for is towing and it looks really lame 2" up in the front and 2" down in the back.

Do I just lube the threads, and then start twisting the rings with the spanner wrench? Or should I get some spring compression clips so that the rings will turn easier?

Here is a picture of the threads with the car jacked up..

you should have gotten a spanner wrench with the shock kit. With that all you need to do is spin the lower one loose to whee you want to end up and then using the spanner twist the other one down to where the first one ended up. My advice would be to clean the shock body threads really good and then use a dry film silicon lube. It would be easier to clamp the springs to release the tension but if you have the spanners that won't be an issue. Just make sure the spring stays in its upper perch and doesn't rotate on ya.

Does anyone know what the ratio of coil over ring location to vehicle ground clearance is? For example, if I lower the coil-over rings by half an inch, does that mean that my truck will sit 1 inch lower? Is it 2:1 or 2.5:1 or 1.5:1 or something else?

That's how it was on the Teamwest Sway Away coilovers.
