Default Hellwig antisway bar

Received my hellwig antisway bar and am doing the install now. Does anyone know why the packing slip says "not legal for sale or use in California on any pollution controlled motor vehicle."? Not that it's going to stop me, just curious.

Maybe the retailer simple mindedly prints that on all aftermarket items???

Do perform a trial fit of the bar and all the hardware. Buy good replacements for any fasteners that don't fit or just look to be too cheesey.

Good luck with the install. Check my sig for a link to a How-To guide I created that'll provide you some additional pointers...

Default Helwig Anti-sway bar

I put mine on my Tundra by myself. It took a couple of hours. I couldn't get a helper but the floor jack worked fine.
I pre-assembled on the floor and slid it under the rear axle.
I guess I lucked out ... all the fastners were there and it went together without a hitch.

I was surprised however by the crude paint job on it. It looks loke they have some chipanzees in the back room with spray cans. Well at least it's all black.

Default hellwig...

Put it on yesterday. Would have been easier if I could have got it up on a hoist or had a helper but still wasn't to bad be myself. Paint was kind of crappy so I sprayed everything flat black with some heavy duty marine paint I had lying around. No missing hardware, two extra nuts. Truck handles better now but I think I need to upgrade the shocks still.

Default Poly bushings

I am sure if I search long enough, I will find it, but, haven't found it yet.

I plan to pull my Hellwig bar when I return home. I have the new end links sitting in the garage. I want to replace the D bushings with poly. I cannot remember what the diameter of the bar is.. 1" or 1 1/8". Anyone replaced their bushings with red poly? Can you provide a link where to purchase? Greaseable? Energy suspension? Thanks.

I swear my memory is getting lost over the border.

They probably just put the wrong slip in the box.

Hey JB,

One stop shopping:

Hellwig Installed

Check the Comments for a link to Summit and you'll see the sway bar is 1 1/8". Check the Description and you'll see a link to a pic of my Polygraphite Front Sway Bar and End-link Bushings from Wheeler's, who may sell 1 1/8" Poly D-Bushings for the Hellwig? Check my Sig for a link to the Hellwig How-To guide!

Seee-ya,

Jim.

Thanks, guy. Let me check. I already have the Wheelers kit for the front sitting at home waiting for install. I have the Hellwig installed already, but, I want to replace the soft bushings that come with the kit. I have new endlinks for the Hellwig sitting at home waiting for me, but want to replace the D bushings as well, when I pull it down. A little OT, but, I am planning a "mod vacation" for the Tundra. Visit family, BBQ's with plenty of beer, and then, time to play. With a little help, I am planning on 22 mods in 10 days (hard to believe, but, I want to get dirty and have some fun) for my ride when I get home. Many are subtle changes, except for the TRD LSD unit to start the driveline upgrades for me. My daughter tells me the packages are cluttering the garage!

Default Quick disconnect

I installed my sway bar as the instructions specified. Now, I want to take off the sway bar links to allow for more movement offroad. I should have installed the long bolts updise down. Do I have to remove the mounts from the frame to get the long bolts out if they were installed right side up?

Thanks.

Hi mmarlatt, I believe I successfully reversed mine after making that discovery about two years ago. The memory is a bit foggy, but I think it can be done. Worst case, the brackets may have to be loosend up a bit to get some wiggle room.

You're right! They moved it. I edited my sig...try it again. (Optionally, check under Mods of the Month for all the good stuff.)

I'm very interested in getting a anti-sway bar for my 2004 A/C 2WD and was wondering where is the best/cheapest place to get one from?
