The stock DC has a nice/car like ride but suffers from way too much body roll when cornering or braking. Is there a shock/coil/sway bar combo out there that will keep the factory ride, or only stiffen it slightly, while reducing the body roll? Factory TRD eliminates most of the body roll and gives better handling but also increases the "jarring" due to the TRD Bilstiens. Any suggestions?

I added the hellwig sway bar and rear 5100 Bilsteins. the body roll is dramatically less. I am also going to install my coilovers in couple of weeks and that should make it ride even better.
then a little wider tire and wider wheel and most of that excessive body roll should all be gone.
I concur, once I installed the rear anti-sway bar my truck handles like a sports car more or less. There's little or no body roll that I can feel even at speed.

I haven't had any problems in your run-of-the-mill off roading, but I'm not doing things that others on this board do that require a lot of heavy wheel articulation. For the average joe schmoe that likes to tear it up occassionally, it shouldn't be too bad. Some people have been looking into setting it up with a quick release mechanism for those trails that you might not want it on, but I think on average, it shouldn't be much of a hinderance.

100% agreed. The addition of a rear sway-bar makes it a completely different ride, absolutely for the better, IMHO.
Am I safe in assuming the Hellwig replaces the factory sway bar? What about the sway bar Toyota uses on the TRD Sport? It looks to be almost 0.125" thicker (diameter) than the TRD Off Road sway bar. Test drove both configurations today and the Sport was a much tighter, more responsive feel with a lot less body roll, but there are other suspension changes too so its tough to parse out exactly what is causing what.
I, unfortunately, didn't have a factory sway bar installed so I'm not sure how much better or worse the Hellwig would be against it. I do know the Hellwig is extremely stout, albeit a slight bit ugly, but it's a sway bar, not a chrome accessory, so I can live with it.
I'd say you'd be safe in making that assumption, but I'm not sure you could use the factory mounts since the Hellwig is a little thicker and the bends are probably slightly different, but again I haven't laid eyes on the factory bar, so I can't say for sure.

The Hellwig and TRD sway bars mount differently. If you check out the huge Hellwig thread you can see a diagram of how they mount.
Thanks for the redirect. I think I have a bit of cunfusion though - the TRD Off Road DC and TRD Sport AC we looked at today both had FRONT sway bars but of differing diameters. Neither truck had a REAR swaybar. So, if I understand correctly the Hellwig is a REAR swaybar that you install while leaving the factory swaybar in place (?). Better control of the rear makes a lot of sense but somehow I wasn't clueing in that you were ending up with both front and rear swaybars. Is the TRD swaybar others are referring to a rear swaybar that is an add-on and not part of any standard preinstall package?
As far as I know, from all the Tundras I've looked at, they all have front sway bars installed. The rear sway bar is a factory option and not all trucks have them. I bought mine and installed it so now I have a rear sway bar but I didn't when I bought the truck. I think you pay Toyota ~$300 to get it installed by the dealership.

I just got a 2005 DC Limited w/ TRD off road package, and it seems to ride rough. Found out on TRD that wheels are 16". I thought they were 17", which may be a smoother ride. Dealer is willing to swap truck for non-TRD package that has stock 17" wheels, is this better? I not a "off roader"...just hauling kids around.
