I understand the sway bar shouldn't efect the ride when the truck come across say a speed bump. But not all roads have bumps strieght across. If you havn't noticed a difference, then I imagine there is none.
I have to asume the rear sway bar would help on towing aswell. After all, all the trucks I've owned in the past, 2 chevy's, 2 fords, 2 dodges, have all had rear sway bars with the tow package.
I have a v8 4wd w/lsd. The rear end will tend to slip out on turns when the pavement is slippery (i.e. rain and/or snow) and in 2wd.
Would an anti sway bar improve this situation, or make it worse?
It would only improve your handleing and in no way hurt the handleing. I've noticed that my truck is harder to get sidways in the snow with the anti-sway bar. When all the weight of the body and pushed onto one side the bar sends that weight back to the inside tire durring a turn....or drift. So you get more traction because the body is kept from rolling so much. You'll love the sway bar if you get it, definitly a great investment!

Yes my 05 is a TRD Off Road but it is a 2x4. There has been a lot of discussion about the 4x4 being limited on articulation after the sway bar is installed. Most of the guys here didn't seem to have any problem with the sway bar in place. There are also ideas of quick disconnect end links here on TS. As far as ride quality, it rides the same as a sway bar has no effect on straight line bumps and holes but when you go around a corner, the body roll is much less pronounced. For me, this was a great add especially since I drive only on the street.

I like the benefits of an anti-sway bar and thionking about it. Does either the aftermarket or OE Toyota brands need welding to install on a 03 Tundra TRD 4X4?
From what I've been reading, the Hellwig is a direct bolt on application while the TRD one requires brackets to be fabricated. No welding of the Hellwig is required.

Well What about this (disconnects), an extra bolt on User Hobbes was having someone look into for people wanting a quick disconnect to take on and off the the rear of the truckand front to allow for more articulation so we dont bend the fargin thing rompin on the trails from all the flexin or to limit us through either.
Front disconnects will be nice to any Hope in this Hobbes
Here's the latest on the quick disconnects, but the last update that I got was late last November. The company is Warrior.
Here is the relevant information from an email from Warrior that was passed on to me by the member looking into it at the time:
Thanks for the picture. You will need a "Post to Post" part #83111 (6"), or #83121 (8"). What is the measurement between the two mounting plates? If the total length is 8" then this measurement should be about 6". If this is correct you will need the 83111.
The member said that he was going to order part #83121 so I assume the measurement that they are referencing resulted in 10" total length, meaning the 8" disconnect would fit. The measurement is from the bar to the frame mount. He was on hold to actually order the part due to finances (I don't know the cost). If anyone wants to contact Warrior (1-888-220-6861, ask for the owner Tom Richardson) I'm sure you could quickly verify this info and then place your order. I have a 4x2 and don't off road otherwise I would have bought the part long ago. By now Warrior may know what works with the Tundra...at the time they had never sold a set for a Tundra but assured us that it will work (they're made to fit the Hellwig bar).
So that's all I know. I know that many are interested in this part but no one seems willing to take the initiative to be the guinea pig (to my knowlegde). You could also ask Warrior for their return policy in case the first set doesn't work. Mention TS and that multiple orders may follow and I'm sure they'll be more than willing to get it right to open up a new market. Hope this helps.

The TRD bar was a factory ordered option and required nothing to be welded on. There may be some confusion there because I recently posted a mention of how I used a TRD bar on my custom five link-air -rear suspension
system,which did require fabrication and brackets. My truck did not originally come with a rear sway bar.

This photo show the welded on mounting brackets to the axle. But maybe that because it came from the factory with the swaybar?

If you can find a TRD bar and it wasn't originally installed on your truck, you WILL have to weld on the brackets. The only rear ends that have the brackets are the ones that had the TRD bar attached to it from the factory and those were ony on TRD Sport trucks.
The Hellwig is a direct bolt on with no drilling or welding.

So when is the group buy going to happen? It should happen. Being that you know more about this than anyone, i think you should contact the guinea pig or contact Nparrot and Warrior for us so we can get this going and setting up the poll to see just how many of us want these disconnects. I know many have the Hellwig here, there's got to be many wanting diconnects. And ones wanting both the hellwig and the disconnects who are new here and do not have them yet.

The TRD ASB was standard with the Tundra TRD Sport package which required the brackets factory welded to the rear axle. The Hellwig ASB is an after-market option for those non-TRD Sport package Tundra owners who would like to enhance the cornering capability of their Tundra. I installed the Hellwig ASB (JC Whitney) on my 2004 Tundra Limited AC with the TRD Off Road package, and it has helped the overall handling of my truck. Here is a TS link (courtesy of Tremo) that may help to understand the mechanics required to install the bolt on after-market Hellwig ASB.
I would not recommend swapping out the TRD Sport Package factory TRD ASB with a Hellwig ASB.

What tools do you need to install the hellwig? Reason I ask is because all of my tools are at home except for a medium sized socket set. My grande socket set is at home, and I am 1000 miles away with my Tundra...

Be aware that having an overly stiff anti-sway bar at the rear of any vehicle can increase the tendency to over-steer (rear of vehicle slides out in hard cornering). So be careful when adding or upgrading a rear bar.
