That may be true, but the under-steer with the tundra's was a little over bearing. So the addition of this anti-sway bar has always a huge addition to the tundra. And from what I've heard the over-steer hasn't been to much of a problem with these trucks with anti-sway bars. I mean........it's still a truck

I know many have the Hellwig here, there's got to be many wanting diconnects. And ones wanting both the hellwig and the disconnects who are new here and do not have them yet.

So............ back to my question

off topic i know but i got a quick question. before jacking up the truck (IE, tire rotation) does the sway bar have to be disconnected?

no,
The articulation issue is only appkicable in severe off road situations.
For the vast majority, I think the bar is an excellent mod.

I installed the Hellwig ASB (JC Whitney) on my 2004 Tundra Limited AC with the TRD Off Road package, and it has helped the overall handling of my truck. Here is a TS link (courtesy of Tremo) that may help to understand the mechanics required to install the bolt on after-market Hellwig ASB.

How-To Install a Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar on a '02 Toyota Tundra

I would not recommend swapping out the TRD Sport Package factory TRD ASB with a Hellwig ASB.
I will keep my TRD ASB on and will sell my Hellwig ASB soon.

It will probably be a few days before he receives them and I asked him to give me an update when he gets them on concerning the quality of the parts and ease of use, etc. So hopefully by early next week at the latest (thinking that it may not be till this weekend until he can install them) we should at least know what the correct part number is. Again, I don't know if Warrior will be willing to do a group buy or not. I asked him to ask that question if he hasn't already ordered the part. When I was working on the group buy for the sway bar, I talked with several vendors who were not willing to participate...or they would as long as all the bars were ordered at the same time and sent to one address. Then I would have had to reship them to individuals....that would have really driven the cost up. So a group buy may or may not work out, but you'll at least have a vendor and part number to go to. I promise that I won't forget about this and will pass on the latest word as soon as I have it.

Yeah, I hear ya , but someone needs to tell him when the first 20 are bought , they are still all going to different addresses. DuH. Then I'll tell him the truth hurts! Duh! And another thing who do these people think they are thinking this way. We will be paying for the shipping, they just have UPS, Fed-ex, or whomever do the rest. Pick ups are common, that is why we having shipping companies out in the world. Stupid people.

Another thing I work in the Longshoring industry and I know all too much about the shipping industry. So tell Warrior, who do they think they are, just ship the friggin things. Some people just need to wake up!
Companies are in the industry, market to make money, Nothing more, its pure and simple, tell that dude on the other line to do his job.

The Hellwig is a bigger diameter bar, and should -- in theory -- out-perform the TRD bar.

Now, I have the Hellwig on my 4x4 Double Cab TRD Off-Road and let me tell you it is the best bang-for-the-buck "performance" mod. The truck corners like a freaking sports car now (okay, not really, but I'd put it up against any other 4x4 and kick their *** )

You'll be really happy with the Helwig. Put one on my 03 AC two years ago. It was a PITA to install, but well worth it. Just last night, as I went through a sweeping curve on the freeway at 70 mph without a hint of body roll, I was thinking how much I love the Helwig. In terms of bang for your buck, it's the best mod you can make.

Holy crap, I had no idea these trucks didn't come with RASB. Maybe that explains my disappointment with the handling over my previous trucks. Here I thought it was just the minimally higher stance contributing to more roll. My prior truck with 16" A/T's handled better than this one with 17" highway tires.

Going shopping.....where's the best place to buy the Hellwig?

I bought mine at www.jcwhitney.com. The total price including shipping was cheaper than the GB from Hellwig.

Same place I bought mine, and i couldn't be happier with it! At the time they took off 10% for every purchase over $100. That covered my shipping exactly. It was like buying the bar with free shipping!! So long as you don't want a red one, jcwhitney is the place to go to get one.

Default Re: Anti Sway Bar

I've just worked out the install issues with my Hellwig. The endlink bolts are JUST long enough to work, and work only with the use of several vice grips to squeeze the bushings together to thread on the nut. Otherwise, the bolt won't pass through the last bushing and washer. Others have cut the spacer, but I couldn't see doing that. Perhaps those installing these every day would have known this trick, but it was a real head scratcher to figure it out the hard way. Other than this little bit, many have posted issues with the frame bolt spinning when they try to lock it down. I have the use of air tools in my garage and these made quick work of it. A must have in my opinion. I greatly suggest looking for the tutorials two of the members have posted on this site. Awesome write ups!
