Handling ImprovementsTechnical discussions regarding sport suspensions, performance sway bars, shock absorbers, lowering kits and handling improvement systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "Anti Sway Bar", within the Handling Improvements forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
I bought a hellwig rear anti sway bar but when I looked under my truck, I noticed that I already have one installed already. I would assume that it's because I bought the sport package.
Now if this bar is TRDs, what is the quality of it against hellwig sway bar?

It likely is the same bar. Drive the truck with the "TRD" one for while, swap with the Hellwig do the same with it. If one adds better torsion (?) go with the better of the two.

The OE Toyota rear bar is a work of art compared to the Hellwig.
They both do the same job and the Hellwig is a larger diameter bar,
but the OE bar has a perfect finish and the end links are sweet.
If I were you,I would be very happy to have the TRD bar My truck didn't have one so I bought the TRD bar and fabricated the weld-on brackets to mount it. If it wasn't ordered from the factory then there were no brackets welded onto the axle

DITTO! If the TRD one is "better" then the Hellwig maybe I'll get it instead of the TRD anti-sway bar. Since it is a TRD/Toyota product it will likely have the Toyota price.

Well by the sound of this, I may be selling my hellwig or maybe return it for a refund.
Let me know if you want to sell it - I'd be interested

We are talking about the rear sway bar. The factory bar is only available with the SPORT TRD package and is NOT included in the TRD OFF ROAD package. The factory sport bar is awesome, and does not need to be changed IMO but the Hellwig bar is an excellent addition to any other Tundra. I put one on my 05 DC and agree with everyone else on this site. It ROCKS!

Did your 05 DC have the Off Road package? was it 4X4 , and did you notice any differance in the daily ride?

Yes my 05 is a TRD Off Road but it is a 2x4. There has been a lot of discussion about the 4x4 being limited on articulation after the sway bar is installed. Most of the guys here didn't seem to have any problem with the sway bar in place. There are also ideas of quick disconnect end links here on TS. As far as ride quality, it rides the same as a sway bar has no effect on straight line bumps and holes but when you go around a corner, the body roll is much less pronounced. For me, this was a great add especially since I drive only on the street.
