Handling ImprovementsTechnical discussions regarding sport suspensions, performance sway bars, shock absorbers, lowering kits and handling improvement systems.
This is a discussion thread titled "Hellwig with add a leaf", within the Handling Improvements forum, part of the Technical & Vehicle Assistance Forums category.
Can the rear anti sway bar be installed with a 1.5 " rear lift with an add a leaf?
Thanks
Yes. I did it and I have TRD AAL's. First I looked around for some longer endlinks, but the local shops never seemed to have them in stock. Went ahead and decided to see if the ones that came with the Hellwig would work, and they did. Not a problem.
Worst case, you can buy longer endlinks if needed. I think 8" Addco endlinks were what I was looking for at the time, but just couldn't find them in stock anywhere. But as far as the swaybar itself, nothing prevents you from running it on a lifted truck. /Mike

I bought an add a leaf, and took it in to a suspension shop for install. They laughed at how puny it was and recommended a more beefy leaf which I had them install. It definately was an improvement when putting a load in the box, and still works fine with the end link of the Helwig antisway bar. Also leveled my truck, after putting a cornfed spacer up front. Just go to a suspension shop and ask them how much to add a leaf? They arent expensive.

Thanks for the input. I'll see if i can find the longer end links. I already have the 1.5 AALs from Wheelersoffroad.com. They were a piece of cake to install.
