Default Hellwig swaybar FYI

I went out to my trunk yesterday afternoon and laying in the driveway was a rubber washer, metal washer and the metal tube spacer. The long endlink bolt had snapped off near the bottom. I was a little bummed. It has been installed about 8 months now. Well I just got off the phone with Hellwig and they are sending me out 2 new ones (one for back up) no questions asked. Great customer service! I guess it would be good to check on them once in a while?

I had them send me a set some time ago. I have had the sway bar on for about two years. I lowered the rear about an inch and a half and called Hellwig to see if I cound buy some shorter links, they sent me a pair that is an inch shorter free!!!!!!!
They have excellent customer service, highly recommended.
I also had an issue with the saddles bending, the perch that goes on the axel bent and they sent me new ones that were boxed in the front and rear, again free!!!!!!!!!!

I have had the Hellwig on for about 6 months. Two weeks ago I noticed that one of the bolts had snapped on the threaded end and all hardware was gone. Two new bolts with all bushings, washers, etc were sent out to me. I will install this weekend. My only concern is the frequency that people report the end links are breaking. It seems like a much beefier set up should be evaluated for this kit. You would think that Hellwig would get tired of sending out replacement parts!

I'm going to get some quick disconnects from frontrangeoffroadfab.com They are stainless steel and super beefy. I have so much into the truck at this point, what's another $125.

They are only grade 5 bolts (3 marks on head of bolt). I am going to give the local bolt supply house a call to see if they have grade 8's in that length. Again, nice they send replacements for free, but think the tougher bolts would be a nice change. Unfortunately, you have to take the frame bracket off to get the new bolt in.

There is only one place I found on the internet that carries 9" Grade 8 -7/16 bolts at $9.50 a piece. The replacements from Hellwig arrived yesterday, so I just reinstalled them. If they break again, I'll order the others. Even only having it off for a short time, I was again impressed at the increase in handling! Loving the fast turns-if only gas wasn't so #$&!ing expensive!

I suggest a replacement end link set that is made by Addco and sold by Auto Zone. A set is available that is the same length as the original. The quality is much higher than the original Hellwig links. A few years ago, they were about $11 a set.

Lightbulb Re: Hellwig swaybar FYI

Thank you, the order is in, keeping my finger crossed maybe the last time I have to install it. Going to use a framing square to make sure the bar is at a 90 degree angle to the link.

Default Re: Hellwig swaybar FYI

Just finished re installing my rear stab bar, with the grade 8 link bolts. Made sure the links were 90 degree angle to the bar and used a small level to try to get them as plumb as possible. One thing I noticed different from the first installation: the U-bolts over the rear axle are pointing a bit forward instead of straight down. This was needed to get the link perpendicular.
Keeping my fingers crossed, maybe I should not take those higway curving offrams at 60 mph????
