I just installed mine yesterday and can tell a big difference. The truck corners so much better than before.
The sway bar helps prevent body roll when taking corners by keeping the rear axle parallel to the frame. I would not suggest one if you do serious offroading but they work great for trucks that spend most of their time on the road.
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST MONEY I HAVE SPENT ON THIS TRUCK! IT HANDLES HIGH SPEED TURNS LIKE A SPORTS CAR! A SIMPLE MUST HAVE!
best $213 I ever spent on this truck. 100% better than Helwig.
I put the Helwig on my 2000 Tundra, made world of difference. I was going to get another Helwig. Why do you say the TRD is better? Did you first put a Helwig on? What is the diffence you noticed between the two. The Helwig is of course cheaper to buy.
PLEASE TELL ME YOU DIDN'T PUT THAT ON A 4X4 TRD TRUCK!
A little education request please
I have an adjustable rear sway bar and a "beefed" up front sway bar in my 2002 WRX. Understood a sports car is a whole different beast than my truck, but I am looking for a more stable ride. I DO NOT have the TRD package on my truck, but it is a 4x4 ... is this something that would be beneficial for me to purchase?
Just installed the TRD Sway Bar. I turned a 2 hour install into a 4 hour with two trips to Autozone and one to Home Depot to find a replacement for the connecting bolt from the connector arm and the sway bar. The ones from the kit didn't like each other, the other side went on fine though. I finally fixed it with a 2' breakbar and a 14" adjustible wrench. Was late and I was too tired to test it so I'll post my reactions after I drive to work.

I noticed that there were two kinds of nuts that looked somewhat similar but weren't. You couldn't tell until you tried to put a nut on the connecting bolt and it simply wouldn't go on and tighten. One is thicker than the other.

Yeah It's items 5 and 6 in the install document. The passenger side went on smooth as butter, the driver side was a two hour quagmire. The drive into work was inconclusive for me, too much traffic. I could tell it was tighter out back though. I'll open her up after work today.

It lessens the amount that the rear axle can move, so if you use the truck as a daily driver and like a firm ride then go for it.
If you are serious about off roading this is not the modification for you. It is designed to reduce the amount of travel in the rear axle. If you use your 4x4 for getting better road traction in rain, sleet or snow, if you're only gonna be crossing shallow creeks and light off road trails then I don't see the harm in adding it, but wait for an off roader on here to tell you more.

I think the swaybar looks pretty cool but I am not sure why I would want one on my truck. Can you convince me? How will it affect handling on/off road?
Thanks.
worthless off road. one ride over a rock or log and you'll ether bend it to high heaven or tear it off completly. Nice set up for the Soccer mom/dad pickups and two wheel drivers but not for those venturing off road.
I just got this installed at the dealer. For on road ride, its worth every penny.
However I do some light off roading and this bar will be a concern. I did not realize it mounts below the diff. housing. So yea.. it could get banged around easily if you don't watch your ground clearance when stradeling rocks or stumps etc.

After a week of traffic heavy back and forth to work driving I finally got to take her onto a curvy country road and I have to say the difference is amazing. She took to curves at 60mph that the week before I had to slow to 40mph to feel comfortable driving. I highly recommend the sway bar as a safety and performance device for 4x2's!

You guys are so full of yourself when it comes to offroading. I have a antisway bar on my 2x4 Dakota and have taken it on some tough roads in Baja - got a little weightless on my last trip and have never had a problem. If you're draggin' your differential on rocks and stumps, a sway bar isn't the only thing you're going to break. Unless you're one of these nuts rock climbing in Moab, don't worry about and enjoy the turns on the pavement.
