You folks probably have read today's paper about how they want to increase the gas cap AGAIN up another $.50 and since I live in Pauoa, right above Kawananakoa in Nu'uanu, the Chevron there is currently at $3.19, $3.29, and $3.39. Now with the added gas hike imagine what regular is going to cost.
Gosh dangit geewilikers I'm going to have to get another job selling myself on the street or something just for the gas bill. Since I don't really go out much except just to work and home I was wondering what are you guys paying for gas now in your areas?

This makes me think its time to get a moped to use around town and just souped it up so I can use it to go work to Manele Bay.......beter yet just buy a sport bike.
When I used to live by Diamond Head, gas wasn't really an issue with me since I was within a 5min walk to work and I surfed right down the road. I moved to Hawaii Kai over a year ago and the 30 minute commute was killing me(grew up in Kapahulu, spoiled ) . I used to average about $300/month in gas for my Tundra about 6-8 months ago. I started using my moped for the commute and I went down to about $60/month. It's definitely worth the savings for me. The only drawback is HPD frowns on souped up mopeds and I've been pulled over twice(last month), and given 1 ticket. I don't know if any of you drive on Kalanianaole Hwy, but a stock moped, average speed 35mph, will not cut it if you're into surviving.
The wife filled her Sequoia yesterday at the 76 by Koko Marina. They limited her to $50, so she went around to Tesoro(?) by Roy's and filled up another $25. Prices are Ridiculous
aisus, now they are limiting the amount now eh? geez well now for sure my truck is spending QT with the garage.

The Shell in Kilauea (Kauai) was $3.39 for regular 87....and they stop the machine at $75. This cap's gonna add about 27-30 cents a gallon here on Kaua'i....
Howzit guys,
I just filled up again today, Kaimuki, Harding 76, $3.26/gal, little over 16 gals, fifty freaking four dollars. 2 days ago I filled a little over 16 gals, forty freaking nine dollars, thats a 5 buck jump in 2 days. And supposed to get worse next Monday, I'm sick of this! Gonna keep drivin my baby though.......I just lub it!

When I left for work this morning in Kahului, (reg 87) was at 3.24,(plus 89) was 3.34, and (super was 3.44). When I came home this afternoon, everthing went up (.30). It's a good thing that I filled up yesterday $70.00, it makes me feel like I saved a bunch, if it was this afternoon, it would have been around $77.00

I filled up my 4runner today and I noticed that the 92 ocatane went up to $4.32/gal from $4.07/gal..........and i think it will go up again within the next day or two with that $0.50 gas cap.
I am in the Reserves (Fulltime job is the Shipyard). I am lucky that I can still get gas on base....still expensive but a little cheaper. Filled up my Sequioa 2 days ago...$2.97 for regular. I have been seriosly considering getting a motorcycle again though. Commuting from Ewa Beach everyday really eats up the gas......H**L, it took me 1.5 hours just to get to work today because of some stupid wreck and a little rain!
heres another way of looking at the whole gas thing:
my tundra averages 16 mpg. my work place is 15 miles to and 15 miles fro, 30 miles round trip. that means it cost me over $6.00 to go to work each day!
my g/f hates my gixxer, totaled my last bike, but ever since gas has gone through the roof, she is much more kool about it. i might actually have to cave in and buy a helmet, gloves, and a safety vest so i can take my bike to work on base.

I caught the tail end of the news tonight concerning the gas cap. I guess Lingle want's to repeal the cap, but she want's to wait a few days before making a decision. I guess monday is "D-Day", prices jump +.44 . Does anyone have any other info?

From what I've read, Monday is supposed to raise so much cents, while the next coming week I believe it's supposed to drop about $.19 because the prices on the mainland were supposed to go down a bit since a few refineries have opened back up.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the price for the gas cap supposed to be determined based upon the price of gas for the previous week?
