What's up my brudda's? Got a question for the guy's here locally that have aftermarket coilovers. I've been thinking long time about getting a set of these ( Donahoes, Camburgs, etc...) but I would like to know, if anyone does servicing/revalving here in HI? Or, can you do this yourself with a rebuild kit if available? It would get pretty expensive to have to send them out to the mainland everytime.
Aloha's

See if you can get the rebuild instructions from the manufacturers. If you can get the instructions you can see if specialized tools are needed.
Maybe motorcycle shops can do the rebuild.
The only thing I would worry about is warranty. Maybe you have to return it to them for rebuild if they have a warranty on it.
I don't know for sure if rebuilding yourself is hard, I rebuilt my mountain bike shock and it was relatively easy. I would think it is similar except in a larger scale. The only problem I see in the self rebuild is if there is some kind of gas pressure involved. If there is just fluid moving between chambers then it should be simple.
MaukaRunner, thanks for the heads up on contacting the manufactures, I didn't even think about that, duhhh.....
As far as the bike shops, I'll call my friend who works at one and ask him if he could do it. Maybe I should just go for it and get the TC lift instead.........hmmmm.......lol

Im feeling the same thing Maui-thunda. I just got my e-z lift installed a few weeks ago, and now I wanna upgrade to tuff country. I did not like the ride of the spacers everytime I go offroading even with the blocks in the back instead of the aal. My cousin there in Oahu is actually looking around trying to get the best deal for a kit for me, and he said he's gonna try ask his friend that work with DH if they know any place to get it cheap. His tundra was also a DH built.
Keith, What I would really like is if Fabtech would come out with a lift like the one they have for the taco, my friend just put it on his taco and it looks solid, have you seen those spindles that came with that lift, they're insane!!!
I would like to go with the TC lift, but I don't feel comfortable with the spindle spacers.
Does anyone know if you can use TC or Camburg uca's with the TC lift?
RCD, who knows when they will actually come out they're DC kit.
Ian, I know what you mean about going off road with the spacers , but on the road they're ok. I have the AAL's, it helps when I load the bed with gear ( a little more payload). At least I know there is someone else out ther that has the same dilemas.
Shootz den my brudda's, and have a good one.
Aloha'z
Tim

Howzit guys,
Tim, yeah that fabtec lift looks pretty solid, everyting is BIG. I spoke with the people at TC a couple of months before I bought my lift and they said they would release the new spindle for the 04-05 models in February of 06. I just couldn't wait that long. To me, unless your flying over jumps at 120 mph, the spindle spacer should hold up. It works great for my needs. I wish we had wide open desert stuff like Cali, flying through that stuff would be awesome.
Ian if you can get a good deal on that TC lift (less than $1500), go for it, you won't regret it. All in all I am very, very stoked with mine. The other thing is, I thought I would be happy with 4-1/2", but now that I'm used to it, and seeing all these other great looking Tundras with huge lifts, I'm feeling like I want to go higher too. If I go up another couple of inches, I'll probably want to go higher again, and again and again. Sorry guys just rambling...I saw this great looking AC today, probably an 02, had a TC lift with a 3" body lift too and BIG tires. I was never one for body lifts but after seeing this guy drive by my parked truck, I dunno, it's kinda making me think more about adding a body lift too. Is it human nature to always want more and never be satisfied??? Or am I just losing control of my emotional self?? Kden, nuff said,
Keith

Oh yeah Tim,
You cannot use the TC or Camburg ucas with the spindle spacer, why, I'm not sure. I think it's because the ball joint that attaches to the uca is not removable on the spindle spacer. I think I pmed Triggs75 with that question a while back, he has an AC with TC lift and King coilovers. If you check out Mags, he has some kinda aftermarket uca on his, he may have fabbed it though, not sure.
take care,
Keith

Keith, Who doesn't want to jump their own truck going 120mph....ahhh...me!!
Cali would be a blast to go to, luck guy's those derzert rats.
Maybe I'll wait and see what comes out in the near future with TC, RCD, and maybe Fabtech. I need the time to save up the funds anyway, so I can do it right and all at once=cha ching$$$$$
Oh yeah, it sounds you like you have the serious "nose bleed disease", that's cool, maybe I'll see you up there one day. Like they say, "the air is always cleaner up there".
If money was no object, I would go to straight axle, 35's and a 4 link with bags then you can change the height anytime, ok I'm awake now, what did I say?
Kden, auuuuright
