Default Anyone using Mich LTX tires?

The Tire salesman guy said I should only use Cross terrains on my highlander but I see many many Highlanders with LTX tires.

He said Ltx would give a "pick up truck" ride

I have Mich LTX M&S 's and they give a smooth ride. If you are in the snow belt, I would choose these over terrains, which are also a great tire. LTX tires are suppose to last a little longer according to tirerack.com. Hope this helps. Can't go wrong either way.

Cross terrains are more expensive tho their tread life is shorter - makes no sense

I too have recently shopped the X-terrains and LTX's.

My research shows the X-terrain the Better Tire for the HL. On the OE 16 inch rims at least. The tread wear difference is insignificant to the better ride quality and traction of the X-terrain. X terrian is warranted for 65k miles or 6 years.
It carries Michelins own best standard warranty .
LTX's appears to be the lower end tire for sure. Or at least a notch down.

Reviews and ratings combined overall indicate this as well.

Just got a quote of $135 each mounted and balanced for raised black lettering on the Cross-terrains. And these will be the 235/70-16's (one size up over the OE 225's).
I will order 4 this week for my moms 04 H/L.

BTW, Her OE Toyo Transpath A11's were literally junk at about 12k miles.

On a side note...I find it strange that these original Toyos are only available in one size(225/70-16). Not that I would recommend this tire as a replacement to anyone.
Were they only made and spec'd for the Toyota HL???

Yes, I am....I purchased a new set of LTX's the first week of 10/06. They replaced the originial Bridgestones which had 43000 on them at the time. Here it is 9 months later and ive been real happy with them. I cant tell you if the mpg has varied that much, i dont think so. Overall, im happy with them. They just had 7000 miles on them and still show no wear, which reminds me to take them in (Belle Tire) and get them rotated within the next couple weeks. Im hoping to get 50k or more out of them...

are they noisy at all?
costco sells the x- LT which is actually less agressive than the LTXs so should be even quieter but maybe not as much as the cross terrains

I had the Toyo Transpath tires replaced with the Michelin LTX M/S tires on my wife's 2005 Highlander last year and it rides much better now. After over a year you can barely see any wear on the tires unlike the Toyos. It handles much better in all weather conditions.

My husband (03 Highlander) has Michelin XLTs from Costco. He is a courier & gets 135 - 150,000 miles per set. Loves these tires,

Yes, we just put four new Michelin LTX tires on our 06 Highlander. They were recommended by the Lexus Technician and by the Michelin dealer over the Cross-terrains, even though the Cross-terrains have a better rating. Both said their experience was that the LTX was the better tire for the vehicle . . . and we were concerned about the ride.
The Highlander came with Toyo A11 Transpath tires. THEY WERE
JUNK! They were giving us a noisy, rough ride long before they had 18,000 miles on them. Toyo would give us 50% off the price of new tires; we didn't take that offer. This was our first (AND LAST!) experience with Toyo tires.
In sum, we are very happy with the LTX' and cannot believe the difference in both ride and no noise!
