Default Something in rear running after stopping

Does anyone know what could be running toward the rear of the vehicle on a 2008 HL? Sounded like a fan of some sort. I thought I remember reading about a fan or something running after shut off but can't find anything. Either way I don't think it would or should be running 4 hours after shutting off the car. I opened the passenger door to grab the owner's manual and it shut off. The car had been parked in the garage for over 4 hours.

It may be a time bomb -- do you have any enemies who want to take u out.

I hope the fuel pump is not running after turning off the engine!!!

See if this answers your question (was it maybe 5 hours when you went back...???).

Yes it was about 5 hours. I thought I had read something like that. Just couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks for the info.

Read your owners manual. It explains the noise in detail. It is a fuel evaporation prevention system. If you bought your Highlander new it should've had a tag hanging from the shifter explaining this issue. Bottom line...contact your service dept and they can explain the technical part of it to you.

This is a normal EVAP sys pressure Check that occurs after the vehicle shuts down for approx. 5 hours. A pump turns on...rather noisily too.

Not to be alarmed at all.
