Default Error Code P1150

Help, I had the check engine light come on. Hooked up the scan tool and read error code P1150. I can't seem to locate the error code P1150 anywhere.
Help.

2003 Highlander 2.4L

Knock Sensor or 02 sensor...at Bank 2 sensor 1?
Bank 2 is on the front of engine bay.(technically the left side of engine if inline mounted) near radiator on a transverse mounted 3.0 V6 engine.Same for the Inline 4. If my memory serves me correct?

Anyone else on this???

o2 sensor being on the front cat(Bank 2 side) . Test this sensor first. Then replace if NG.

My hunch.

Is this not part of the factory recall where dealers replace this free of charge under emissions warranty?

If the o2 sensor failed it should be warranty. Check your documentation before guessing. I would call the Toyota (800) number FIRST before going to a dealer. Ask them specifically what emission parts ARE covered and for how long.
I have seen most dealers try and charge for emission warranty stuff. Or try and say that other non warranty parts caused the warrantied part to fail.
Go to the dealer armed with Actual Toyota info. or yu might get charged much money for this 02 sensor part.

They may even try to charge you incorrectly for other related parts even though they are willing to replace the 02 under warranty.
Always ask for trouble codes to be supplied to back up their diagnosis.

Just be cautious. I'm playing devils advocate here. Yu just might get lucky and get an HONEST dealer.

From my experience.

Update: I found out through this site that there is a recall for the 03 Highlander for campaign 613. Reprogram of the ECM. I cleared my check engine light twice but it just keeps on illumininating. I hope the ECM reprogramming stops this. I still cannot find out anything on the code: P1150. Nowhere. Now the hard part. I am going to the dealer to have the service done. I am probably going to get no answers when I ask the service manager about this 1150 code. We'll see. They of course will probably want to charge me an arm and a leg to repair this.

Went to the dealership and booked an oppointment for my ECM recall. Told the service rep about my 1150 code. She wanted to charge me $50 to read the code. What gives? I already have the code. I don't need Toyota to read it again. And dealerships wonder why people dislike using them!

I knew that was going to happen to yu. They will charge yu for a rescan of the code. They get paid by the hour. Yu can do a preliminary check with a digital VOM on the O2 sensor without removing it. Just get the specs for proper operation and disconnect the harness of the O2 and do an Ohm check acroos the apropriate terminals on the O2 side of the harness.(the Cold O2 Sensor)

This might be too much stuff for yu . I don't know if yu can grasp my directions here. Wish I could help further.

Your right, that is a little much for me. Don't have the proper tools.
I did how ever try to remove the sensor which proved to be too much for me also. That thing is in there. Seized. I thought if I could at least remove the sensor and take a look at it or even better have toyota bench test it I could narrow down the problem. I am going to borrow a long breaker bar and try again. One of us is going to win, either me or the sensor. I think the sensor may have one up on me.

Yeah, O2 sensors, and anything else on exhaust manifolds for that matter, are a complete witch to get off. See if you can get an impact wrench. If you can't get an impact wrench, then get a breaker bar. If you can't get a breaker bar, improvise. (with a piece of cast iron pipe on the end of whatever you got)

Keep in mind you can get a cheap vom and "test" it without removing it, though. If worse comes to worst I can let you know what mine reads (04 I4).

Yu should be using the proper size 02 sensor socket and a long breaker bar after spraying some PB rust buster lube on it. Yu need some strong leverage and it will break free after just 1/4 turn.
Sometimes doing it when the engine is warm to hot after a spraying will yield an easier removal.

some ideas.

well pulling the o2 sensor out was a chore but I was able to remove it. new problem is that my memory is no good. the actual code was 1155 instead of 1150. i tested both 02 sensors and the readings for both are not correct according to specs. but what are the chances of both being ng? somehow I must be doing something wrong or I am off track on the o2 sensors being no good. i could not even find the 1155 code in the toyota service manual that was posted by pilpusher. i am at a loss so it looks like i have to take the vehicle in to toyota.

Yu are on the right track. Yu came this far. Take a deep breath.

Regroup, reread. Doublecheck your 02 sensors. Yes, both can become NG. This does not mean they both failed at the same time however.

Do both 02 readings match exactly?
Although both may be out of spec. They generally should read different. But not always. Double check them.

Default Re: Error Code P1150

Just a heads up, when I had my 01' Tundra in for the O2 front bank sensor recall, they replaced both front sensors and both manifolds along with it since they'd probably damage the manifolds getting the sensors out. All I can say is thank god it was a warranty job because it took them 7 hrs to do it.

Update:
So I go to Mayfield Toyota in Edmonton to pick up my Highlander after I give up trying to fix it. $361.00 later I'm on my way. I go to hockey and proceed to drive about a mile from home and the dam light comes on again. I knew something was wrong right away when I picked it up because it still ran rough and you could smell the fuel inside. I was POed. So now what happens? I looked at the 4, 02 sensors and none of them have been changed. The invoice lists the Ratio Sensor as the replaced part. Anyone know what this is? Where is it located? What about the $361.00? Do I ask for this back? Any feedback is appreciated. I guess you know where I'm off to tomorrow.
