Default Dealer Trying to screw me???

Wel after paying over 250 bucks they want to tare down crankshaft all that.

Ok so im gettin a vibration from 35-45 mph.

Tires were balanced fine still had wobble
Swapped tires from another highlander still had wobble
they did alignment still had wobble.

So i hear the right front axle clicking when i back up on our steep hill and turn all the way to the right.

Dealer says oh we didnt hear any clicking but we think its the motor mount or we have to take cam out to balance it and check flywheel and crankshaft balance.

Im like wtf i honestly think its the front axle either left or right because it clicks. When it wobbles from 35-45 mph and i let off the gas it goes away and soon as i hit it it does it.

ANy ideas guys??

We need A LOT more information to really help. Year, mileage, engine, 2wd/4wd.

It certainly doesn't sound like engine vibration to me. Does the engine vibrate when revved in park (have someone look under the hood). Has a timing belt been changed recently? What changed that started this problem? Is the only problem a vibration between 35 and 45? Are you paying for this out of pocket? If so, go somewhere else at once.

Is this a used vehicle you bought recently? Have you used it off road or drove it violently on the streets? It's easy to damage the suspension in a way that will cause odd vibrations if you drive agressively on bumpy roads.

I agree that it's more likely a suspension component than the engine, especially if it only happens at the one speed. If it were the engine, it should resonate in every gear and neutral around the same RPM. You'd think that the alignment shop would notice, but now that's pretty computerized and probably run by someone who doesn't really know what they're looking for.

If it's the cv joint clicking, it could be a slightly bent half shaft or something else along the driveline.

sory gusy been out for a long time.

ok its a 2004 toyota highlander 4 cyl

the wobble is still there even after a year later. Ive replated the rotors/brakes with r1concepts stuff and it stops faster for sure

but anyways yah the wobble is still there and axles still make the clicking on hard turns. Where can i get a axle for the vehicle that wont cost a arm and a leg. im going to start with the right front axle i think that maybe it.

it has 77000 miles on it

Some dealers are good and others are bad. My local dealer (Fremont) never once honored my platinum extended warranty, for example, no matter what was the issue, they always came up some reasons to make me pay out of my pocket.

From experience... for this reason, I never, ever , buy any Extended Warranty.
It is BS. and just for the faint of heart at the time of sale. It is just an Insurance policy that the insurer fights against paying out. Period.
The policy is never explicit enough and written such that coverage can be denied at any given time.

Dealers push this very high profit margin fluff with alot of pressure to buy every minute of the day. The salesman and the dealer get a BIG kickback on it.

Extended warranty companys have been in litigation with owners and has been a single major problem for many years. And all these EW companies black ball each other for a share of the market.

As much as I love cars... I must say it's all a very dirty business. So I got out of it and moved on many years ago.

I am sure there are those that swear it is great to have and have used it successfully. But it depends on the nature of the repair. Catastrophic Engine failure, for instance, will always be an up hill battle. The big ticket repairs are hard to get done.

Again ...just from experience.

LT

All these extended warranties are nonsense. Why should I pitch in 2K and then have to beg the stealership to work on my vehicle. Utter nonsense, I rather have the 2K in my pocket and haggle on getting done for a price I set...

Folks who are scared to get dirty (lazy, the better term) are the folks who get the warranties paying big bucks... Just my opinion, may not necessarily be sounding right. But that's just me.....
