does anybody have the factory Hood protector (plastic) on there New 2008 Highlander would like to see what this look's like

My parts guy said they got notified not to sell any more hood protectors, and there are none available in the US. That usually means there was a problem, and they won't be available until it is resolved. I got one from Weathertech. It looks and fits good, but feels a little lightweight. I'm concerned what will happen if I run the car through the car wash (Yes, I do that occasionally,

usually when I'm in a hurry

). I am going to ask to see the Toyota one, when they are out. If it feels better, I will probably switch. I'll keep you all posted.

confirm this info with other Toyota dealers in other regions and areas.

I don't always believe the parts dept. Yu tend to get differing info from many dealers!!

They are wrong 50% of the time I've noticed.

Call around.
