Default Has anyone replaced the steering boot hole cover??

There is a TSB for steering squeak and the procedure involves changing and greasing a rubber boot on the steering shaft.

I was just wondering if anyone has done it and what is the quickest method.

I have done it on my Seqouia, but the Highlander looks different.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!

That isn't suprising, but do you have any more detail that would actually help complete the job?

Thanks.

I apologize for using the s**t word here. Because the censor picked it up as FOUL. And gave me an infraction.

But I only used a frequently used phrase. The context wasn't even hurtful.

So I will rephrase what was censored/removed.

"Same !@#$%^ different day". Meaning... the procedure is similar on one to the other.
As no one else has replied here...I can offer this and hope this is helpful.

I'm sorry you got an infraction. Especially since your reply wasn't even necessary. The fact that it is similar is obvious. It is a steering column and it is a column boot.

The only useful reply would be one that states possible problems, good procedures, timesavers, etc. Just like everything else on this website.

You could have saved yourself some time by not even replying.

Yu posed the question. I offered a quick answer. I do not know your level of aptitude nor would I assume what it actually is.

YU stated yu did the procedure to your Seq. I state it is the same for the HL.

Maybe this whole thread wasn't necessary.

Sorry for wasting my time and yours.

As I stated in the PM I sent, I was hoping for a few general how to steps from someone who has done it. As far as my aptitude, I do all the maintenance items including timing belt. I haven't taken the engine apart though and I don't mess with transmissions.

If it is exactly the same as the Sequoia then great. If you have to take more things apart or if it takes a lot longer for some reason, then I would appreciate a heads up, that's all.

Thanks.

Yu need a copy of the specific Toyota Service Bulletin... If yu don't have one already.

Ask around. It once was in the TS Knowldege base.

I'm also sorry you got the infraction LT. But continuing to write stuff like this will only get you another one. I'd offer you advice as to stop doing it and just not post anything, but you'd most likely not take it.

Have a nice holiday weekend.

My apologies for interrupting your thread mcmatt.
