Default question about replacing 2005 Highlander JBL 6-disc head unit

HI guys,

looking to replace the JBL head unit with an aftermarket
double din unit with LCD screen but would like to keep the JBL amp under the passenger seat

question is does anyone know if the JBL amp is turned on digital or analog ?

I found this digital amp on harness thru the internet, kinda expensive
* TOYOTA WIRE HARNESS AND DIGITAL FACTORY AMPLIIER TURN ON INTERFACES (TOYOTA JBL)*::*DIGITAL INTERFACES BY AXXESS*::*OEM Factory Aux Ipod Adapters & Changers*::*AUTOTOYS

but when I search ebay, they sell harnesses that less than $10 yet the say it will work with JBL systems.

need help to understand, thanks in advance.

Looks like what IS required. But I noticed it makes no mention of 01-07 Highlanders.

It does mention 08 HL's regarding accessories.

Call the manufacturer of this product first.

But yu are on the right track. To maintain the OE AMP yu need the correct digital interface.

Or, just toss the OE AMP altogether and start a system from scratch. Your call.
